when it comes to talking about my favorite characters I have to always set down the ground rule that YES I do love them YES they are awesome and YES they are my beloved before being allowed to criticize their choices and or their writing.
have to do this constantly for Vriska and Weiss but in two different ways.
I need to talk about how Vriska was an abuse victim throughout her life and she's never quite escaped that mentality so I can get rid of the victim blamers and creeps. it effects how she treats others and how everything in her life is for survival. then I'm allowed to say "okay but what she did here was weird and ableist and I want her to get better".
and with Weiss I feel like we all know that she's lovely and she's working on herself but I see so many people forget that she was racist. like violently so. she was slinging slurs for a whole volume and I want to talk about that because it does impact how I enjoy her as a black person because she's one of my favorite characters and she means a lot to me. but the fandom is so white that people (either intentionally or not) are covering up the fact she was RACIST. "I want v1 Weiss back" YOU MEAN THE RACIST?????
