If you’re over-exaggerating his nose to the degree I have to deadass do a double-take thinking your art is purposefully mimicking textbook antisemitic imagery with your Palpatine design just to make him seem “extra evil”, it might be time to go back to the drawing board and rework the piece.  

Overexaggerating hooked noses to the point they’re evoking harmful antisemitic motifs especially on evil/greedy characters comes from an expansive, insidious history of trying to dehumanize and demonize real people with these features (largely Jews and Arabs).  

Just please be mindful - especially since Star Wars itself already has a gross history of perpetuating this type of imagery:

Palpatine’s animated design.

Dooku’s animated design.

The Munn’s (you know, the “evil” race of aliens that control the banks) actually having caricaturized noses ADDED to them in TCW TV show.

I largely, and perhaps even naively, don’t think this is an intentional thing in most cases because it is something that is unfortunately so widely pervasive in pop culture around the world.  But I do want others to be aware of how your art reads to some of us.  

Is it antisemitic to have characters with hooked noses?  Absolutely not, hooked noses rock.  

Rather, it becomes antisemitic when you’re combining several antisemitic tropes that portray these features in consortium with 1.) overexaggerating them to purposefully make a character appear more grotesque/ugly/evil and/or 2.) combining them with other harmful, antisemitic stereotypes (money/wealth hoarding, connection to conspiracy theories, dehumanization ie. eating babies/being demonic, puppetmasters, etc).
