honestly a case is the best first date because who doesn’t find competence and passion attractive and exciting in a new person? and sherlock is incredible, actually, he’s quick and clever and gorgeous and john never stood a chance.

and john!! john rolls with the punches, he takes things as they come, the crime scene, the deductions, the dead body, none of it really phases him. he’s a little uncertain, perhaps, but he follows sherlock so easily and accepts what sherlock tells him and appreciates his intelligence right off the bat and doesn’t get offended and oh, john, you had him right from the off. you two silly men, you were so immediately smitten, it was inevitable.
