As a Polivia shipper, it was so therapeutic to watch Helly deal with the revelation of the assault with Mark. There are so many similarities but the way things were different was what made it so cathartic.
Helly doesn't have Olivia's complicated emotional baggage, so she's able to immediately work through her feelings and acknowledge the real horror of the situation:
What sucks is that she got to have that and I didn't. That she used me to trick my friends. Used my body to get close to you...It's disgusting.
She doesn't blame Mark, because it's clear who the bad guy is. She doesn't get hung up on the tragedy, because she trusts that Mark's feelings for her were genuine--that it was her he really wanted to be with, not Helena:
You thought it was me...which means you wanted to. With me.
So she's able to move from victimhood to empowerment which allows Mark to do the same and this is how all relationships should work--open communication, rupture and repair, trauma and post-traumatic growth.
I don't want her memory. I want my own. Would you like that?
Yes, I'd like that.
Having said that, I will forever hold a special place in my heart for the torture that was Peter and Olivia's trauma-surviving, death-defying, universe-crossing, timeline-resetting love.
