hello! i'm spiritsglade, and you can find all my names and pronouns here. mix 'em up, or stick to one, i don't mind!
i write fic on ao3. occasionally i post sneak peeks here.
i also draw things sometimes, and you can find all my ask answers under this tag. my ask box is pretty much always open, and i love talking about my interests + my fics but it may take me a while to respond.
current relevant interests are primarily dc comics, moon knight, and wings of fire.
i am never making a fandom sideblog, i do not queue posts, and my tagging system is shoddy at best. if you follow me you are signing up for wherever my whims take me.

The no kill rule exists because the bats absolutelyy could not be trusted. Have you seen these guys. They think theyve pinned the culprit and its the wrong person all the time. Jason would be dead so many times over if they were fine with active killing. Which doesn't work as an argument because that's actively what Jason wants. Is the no kill rule excuses in canon stupid? Am I absolutely still on Jason's side? Yes to both. But like. Bruce? I would not trust Bruce to kill. I do not think he's good at gathering all the proof before making his judgements. Honestly it'd work better in his favor if the explanation "I can't be trusted with that" rather than "I'll kill literally everyone ever" "Killing even once makes you evil and irredeemable forever". It especially is good because it fits in with the fact Bruce Absolutely used to kill. Like not even just in the golden age with a gun or whatever I mean in like the literal 80s comics where Jason was Robin featured Bruce killing people and had killed people before which hurts ALOT of arguments for the no killing ever rule and the weird untainted murder virginity thing they're on about
The Joker should still die though. Like. Despite that. He's not Some Guy killed due to jumped conclusions. He is the Joker. Except of course if this ever happened it'd be revealed the Joker they killed Actually Was Just Some Guy who was forced into thinking he WAS the Joker and he actually was a doctor with a wife and five children and two dogs and he'd been a saint who'd been making leaps and bounds on work to destroy cancer. Still stupid to argue you can't kill Joker to Jason with that in mind though. He has in fact killed several Jokers. Joker natural predator. And we all agree of course that this is comics and making them kill The Wrong Guy is a stupid cop out and plot and I hate it forever. Anyway. Where was I going with this.
under the hood & lost days jason killing people is ultimately less about whether they "deserve it" & more... would killing this person be useful/beneficial? killing ego stops him from trafficking children, killing the drug lords' lieutenants is an extremely effective & convincing demonstration that get them to heel, killing black mask's henchmen puts pressure on him that ultimately leads to him decimating his own empire.
in under the hood you can argue it's because jason is focused on a goal; of course he's not going out of his way to kill people who "deserve it," he doesn't have time for that. but in lost days it's primarily to prevent future harm. that trainer would have killed her family if jason didn't stop her, & that dealer selling poisoned drugs can't continue doing so because he's dead.
the joker's the only person that jason really seems to argue deserves to die for what he has done in the past, & even then it's less "the joker deserves to die" and more "you (bruce) should have killed him." & even then the conversation carried the implication of "the joker kept killing people after i died. why wasn't i enough for you to care?"
"i thought killing me--that i'd be the last person you'd ever let him hurt."
everything with the joker is personal, in a way that jason killing other people isn't.
i digress. this all makes me think back to what jason says about egon: "i didn't 'murder' him. you murder people. i... put this reptile down." it's a very dehumanizing thing to say! this reminds me of the practice of euthanizing animals that attack humans, both wild & domesticated. it's not the animal's "fault" and it's not a punishment because they "deserve it," it's merely because if they've attacked a human before there's a higher chance they will again.
if that's the mindset jason's running around with, then it makes sense that "this is a bad person who deserves to die" does not enter his thought process at all. punishment is not part of the equation.
eventually i need to write a proper coherent post on how [to me] jason does not operate under the belief that people "deserve" to die, & how fascinatingly dehumanizing the angle he takes instead is. but alas. now i just get mildly irked whenever someone references the idea that jason is suicidal because he thinks he deserves to die. when it is clearly for other reasons.

*Here, the "/" indicates the separation between two characters' dialogue.
There will be three aspects to this event:
The main part is the prompt challenge, where you create a fanwork for a day. You can use one, two, or three of a day's prompts—it's up to you! If you don't like any of the given prompts for a day, you can substitute one of the Substitute Prompts. In general, you can interpret each prompt however loosely you want, and for quote prompts, you definitely don't have to use the exact quote. If you want make something for Jason Todd Week that doesn't fit any of the prompts, don't panic! You can use the "FREE PROMPT" on the final day to post any Jason Todd work you want. Each prompt also has a song corresponding to it in the playlist. There is also a playlist guide so that you can know what songs there are if you don't use Spotify or YouTube.
The secondary aspect is another opportunity to participate if you don't feel comfortable creating art, writing, or other media. Each day of the week, there will be a be an open-ended question about your opinions/ideas related to Jason Todd that you can respond to. For example, "What is your favorite Jason Todd headcanon?"
Finally, based on the results of the poll on the suggestion form, each day there will be a (completely optional!) commenting scavenger hunt to encourage interaction and finding new people/fanworks. See this post for more details!
If you post on Tumblr, you can use the tag #jasontoddweek2026 or @ this blog (@jason-todd-week). There's also an AO3 collection (JasonToddWeek2026).
For your filtering, this blog will tag reblogs with #reblogs, the day, the prompt(s), media type, any non-Jason characters, any romantic or sexual ships (with full character name/full character name as well as ship name if I know it), and any warnings. Anything explicit will be tagged #explicit. Example: #reblogs #day 6 #scars #enemy to caretaker #fic #tim drake #gun violence. Please filter out tags you don’t want to see.
Because I am not able to read/see every work posted (due to time constraints and personal boundaries), some warnings or characters may be untagged if they are not in the original post’s tags.
I am certain that DC would snipe me for this but I'm of the opinion that Jason was the best Robin at being Robin. I don't care how iconic Tim was or how much influence he had on the modern perception of the character, I think Jason was the best Robin Bruce has ever had in terms of their actual partnership
the fact that the creator of the dcblackout was essentially bullied out of the boycott just because other people are getting books is disgusting. people said “i don’t care that black characters/writers aren’t getting books because there are gay people getting books” and we’re supposed to act like that’s not insanely racist

Fascinated by how writers for dc in the 80s thought manufacturing works
Just giant bubbling cauldrons of molten glass for making mirrors, hot and open to the air even when no one is currently working with it
I am like 90 percent certain that manufacturing mirrors does not involve giant cauldrons of molten glass. Honestly pretty sure no glass making at all involves that
Fermenters with lids lowered by chains, and yeast that doesn't produce lethal levels of carbon dioxide as it ferments in such quantities. Unrealistic. Maybe because I've actually been inside several breweries
Also why is two face always stealing payroll? What company in the 80s is paying cash instead of just cutting checks?
These are from two different comics a couple years apart. Like what is he going to do with the payroll? If he wants to steal wages he should start an LLC or something
