for those just joining us: my name is juno, i'm a trans person with several mental disabilities who has recently 1. lost my job suddenly 2. lost my psychiatrist after smth he prescribed me put me in the ER (he left ME) and 3. lost my apartment after our asshole landlord tried to nearly double our rent. my partner and i are currently living with my parents, we are both incredibly burnt out, but there's still much work to be done before i feel like we'll be "okay."

i'm receiving unemployment benefits, but it's less than my cost of living (even with my parents), and given that my meds have been completely up in the air for almost a year now, i've been partly self medicating with weed which is expensive in its own right. i'm also currently paying $200/month to keep most of my belongings in storage, and when the time comes to move again, i'll have to pay another $500 just to have them take it back out.

TL;DR: things are starting to stabilize a bit, and i'm not in dire need, but i am still on thin ice. i'd especially like to make as much of that monthly $200 back as I can, because the faster I can accrue some savings, the faster I can get us the hell out of here

it's a major assumption that I, too, am not disabled or haven't been disabled before, and therefore couldn't comprehend being in that situation or have any empathy for it.

I grew up with silent seizures and short term memory loss. Like, Dory from Finding Nemo type shit. Yes, I DO know what it's like to not be able to process information in the moment. Nothing worse than reading or doing something, flashing forward ten seconds and you remember nothing, forced to repeat without any conscious choice because your synapses have rebooted the last save file in storage.

It was only the luck and grace of having a Black substitute teacher one year that knew what epilepsy looked like, that saved me from a childhood of getting punished in and outside of school for "not listening" and "being disobedient", which was what was happening. Because no one else was certainly about to check!!

bsky replies: its not uncommon for some tops to put condoms on the strap because its still possible to transmit std's. also it could just be a joke and shes just doing it cuz shes bisexual or something and has them lying around maybe and its funny cuz they dont need them?
