Aborted Descartes voice: I would've thought...if I was.
it dawned on me earlier when i was explaining dodge vipers to a friend who doesn't know cars how fucking insane they were
this fucking thing is notorious for being incredibly dangerous to drive. like, it straight up wants to kill you. there are several reasons for this:
-massive engine combined with a very lightweight body. absolutely insane amount of torque.
-no airbags
-no ABS, no traction control, no electronic driver aids whatsoever
-stiff suspension, lots of power and wide tires meant that it was incredibly twitchy and would oversteer badly if you didnt manage it perfectly
-the tires werent really equipped to handle all of that power so they'd often lose grip or just literally fucking melt
-it does not like bumps. if the pavement isnt perfect and youre going fast, it will spin out
-its exhaust pipe is positioned so that it's extremely easy to get burned by it when exiting the vehicle
no airbags is fucking insane; please tell me it at least has seatbelts
it did have seatbelts! it did not have external door handles though lol

happy pride to the gay people in my computer <3
I was thinking of a pride art challenge people could do with their OCs, because I thought it'd be cute! A queer/trans artist with their creations.
but then I realised that same challenge would be infinitely more funny with folks who have atypical or horror OCs

Still the smallest joints I ever made. I tend to believe the batch of Fimo I used back then was extra sturdy after curing. Or I was just stupid lucky that this worked.
The rule could have heavy impacts towards trans people across society.
Last week, the Trump administration quietly released a sweeping new federal rule that would use funding threats to force institutions across the country to reject transgender people. The 400-page proposed regulation would codify the administration's anti-trans executive orders into binding federal policy, imposing a blanket prohibition on federal funds going toward "gender ideology"
The proposed rule, formally titled "Regulation for Federal Financial Assistance," rewrites the government-wide framework governing all federal grants across every agency. Among its most consequential provisions, it requires that before a federal grant recipient can receive money, the award must pass a "pre-issuance review" conducted by a political appointee—not a career expert or peer reviewer—to ensure it is "consistent with applicable law, Federal agency priorities, and the national interest." The regulation explicitly instructs these appointees to screen for "denial by the recipient of the sex binary in humans or the notion that sex is a chosen or mutable characteristic." [...] An institution that acknowledges transgender people exist—through its policies, its training, its healthcare, its bathroom access, its HR procedures, its name-change processes—could be deemed to "deny the sex binary" or to “support the notion that sex is mutable” and have its federal funding blocked.
Importantly, the gender ideology prohibition has no age limitation—hospitals could be targeted not just for providing care to minors but for providing gender-affirming care to adults, because prescribing hormone therapy to a transgender patient of any age could be deemed promoting the belief that "sex is a chosen or mutable characteristic."
THIS IS OPEN TO COMMENT UNTIL JULY 13, 2026
The site went down while I was typing my comment, is the backlash slashdotting them? If so, it would certainly demonstrate just how unpopular transphobia actually is as a political position.

the way the internet has eroded the barrier between creator and fanbase sucks beyond words and while most discussion of this puts the focus on the parasociality aspect i do think its equally if not more important to point out that most if not all creators would benefit greatly from logging the fuck off
if people read your work in a way you don't want them to or god forbid critique aspects of it that is not something you can stop nor should you try to sometimes people will discuss your work in a way that isn't 100% validating at all times and if you do not want that to happen you don't have to put it out into the world at all
like i don't know how but it feels like online at large has forgotten than criticism is a normal part of releasing a piece of media into the world it is perfectly normal for people to criticize or dislike something and yet every time something new and popular gets criticism you get thousands of bad thinkpieces that all look like this
important also to say that these broken boundaries are broken for cash the "thousands of bad thinkpieces that all look like this" are sensational and dramatic because that is what gets people paid. it is lucrative to stir the pot. it would not be so lucrative to harass people and craft lolcows (on either side of creator or audience) if advertisers and social media companies and google/youtube had not realized that it's actually way better for people to see contextless pieces of a conversation and dig into the rabbit hole out of curiosity and that people will do it more often if whatever they find feels very wild and sensational, because this results in a higher time-on-site or watchtime metrics. the drama is all part of the show despite the very real casualties and we are all doomed 😁 to not recognize this and reject it is how you become too online!
