sticky boy !

        “  it  seems  like  a  lot  of  things  are  coming  up  lately  .  “  she  knows  he’s  probably  not  even  listening  to  her  right  now  ,  but  she’s  can’t  quite  help  the  suspicion  wrapping  around  her  tone  .  they  don’t  call  her  nancy  drew  for  nothing  &  her  detective  senses  are  definitely  tingling  .  eyebrows  furrowed  ,  she  watches  him  as  his  hands  are  practically  creating  a  hurricane  inside  his  locker  ,  blues  widening  in  his  direction  .  “  what  are  you  even  looking  for  ??  “

        ❛ it’s kind of hard to plan for your future when you don’t even know if you’ll HAVE one. seems sort of pointless, like a waste of energy i don’t have. i’m never gonna sit behind a desk at some dumb office job anyway, so why bother? ❜ 

          LEANING  BACK  AGAINST  THE  WALL,  she  waits  for  her  project  partner  to  exit  the  room  after  their  exam.   she’s  done  with  classes  for  the  day,  hoping  to  get  some  work  done  on  the  project  with  Peter  before  going  out  for  the  night.   putting  her  phone  into  her  back  pocket,  she  pushes  off  the  wall  when  she  sees  him  &  hurries  to  catch  up.   ❝  hey !!   what’d  you  think  of  the  test ?  ❞

     this will hurt her in the end, and she knows it. however, she can’t bring herself to care. this is one last conversation with him, and it means the world to her that he felt the need to say goodbye. that’s what this is: a goodbye for them. he’s running headfirst into danger and nothing she says or does will stop him. she can only hope that he makes it back to the city, to his aunt…to her. ‘it’s not a waste of energy.’ she looks up at him, more serious now. she has to take care of her family, the ones she has left. ‘i’ll take care of them, don’t you worry. and i’ll look after may, too.’ at least she won’t be worrying alone that way. ‘don’t you do anything stupid, either. be as careful as you can. please.’

sawyer stopped her typing only to look up and scowl at him. “hey, did you happen to know that you’re literally the most infuriating person i fucking know?” she asked before nudging her bag with her foot.”

MJ rolled her eyes at Peter’s observation. Didn’t he know better? “If you wanted fun, you should’ve invited Ned.” MJ shot back, eyes refocusing on her science homework.  She had two shifts to volunteer at the hospital and the shelter, and at least three kids to tutor over the weekend. It was her usual busy weekend and if she wanted to work on her admission essays in time for her aunt to read them, she wanted to finish her assignments tonight. At least get through her AP enviro work, but Peter seemed determined and close to giving her puppy eyes.

“Fine.” She announced with an over dramatic sigh. “I’d probably go out to a movie, but I don’t know what’s playing and…” MJ shrugged her shoulders. She didn’t feel like watching a movie and she didn’t think Peter would either. “Aren’t you Spider-Man? Show me the city like you see it.”

        peter considers this for a moment, tapping his pen against his chin as he cocks his head. ❛ i wouldn’t sell yourself so short. you’re FUN. just... in different ways. ❜ he offers, though he can’t exactly pinpoint what those ways are in that moment. he likes michelle, it’s as simple as that. for whatever reason, he likes being around her. even if she spends half the time picking on him or telling him he’s being an idiot, it’s better than being forced to study on his own. and there are moments, rare, invaluable moments where she acts like a real person around him. those moments, to him, are worth all the others. those little glimpses into what makes michelle who she is. he finds each of them endlessly fascinating. 

   “peter parker? thinking? this early in the morning? should i be worried?” there’s a soft laugh as she leans against the counter, back bent just slightly over the edge as she raises her own coffee cup to her lips to take a sip. she’s been awake for hours at this point working on a project for norman osborn and is on her third cup of coffee, pretty convinced that she’s going just a little bit insane. but if she can just get this thing done, then she’ll be able to breathe for a little bit. a breath of air that she can spend with her boyfriend without having to worry about rushing out the door or shooing him away so she can finish whatever research she’s doing. “a vacation?” she perks up at the thought and puts her half empty cup on the counter before turning to him with a full grin. “if this project is done tonight… i can get off this weekend or next. can new york get by without you for a few days?”

       the faintest hint of humor ticks the sides of his lips at the boy’s reaction. he’s met so many of these superhero type people the past few years, but this kid is a bit different. maybe because he’s so young. he has to be younger than bucky went off to war, and he’s swinging around, fighting.  ❝ it’s bucky. ❞ he says first, and then, ❝ where are there radioactive spiders?❞   it’s not that crazy, he supposes, considering steve, and himself, and the rest of steve’s team. but that doesn’t mean he’s not going to try to avoid these radioactive spiders of the future. ❝ i don’t - think deer can actually bite a person.❞ he adds, and there’s the slightest chuckle at the image. pauses, ❝ — how old are you, kid? ❞ 

        ❛ bucky. ❜ peter repeats, as if it’s his first time hearing it. it isn’t, as he and ned have done a rather lengthy amount of research on each of the individuals he ran into on that day in germany. still, it’s odd to actually be meeting someone so CLOSELY acquainted with steve rogers. given his allegiance to mr. stark, he hardly sees anyone outside of he and vision. ❛ i’m... peter. i mean i don’t really go by that, but you can call me that. ❜ he’s only recently taken to introducing himself as anything other than spider-man, but figures it seems a bit obnoxious to use the name when the mask is nowhere to be found. ❛ oscorp? ...in new york. ❜ maybe you shouldn’t share that. too late, he thinks. though it isn’t as if bucky needs to run off and get bit.
