Thief for Hire

ALL THIS TIME, SHE was trying to get her powers to work, & they were – but when it was a pavement filled city, it wasn’t like there was much to work with. The trees near the car were starting to listen to her, & the weeds underneath were growing into vines, one already having pulled the gas line free. But she hadn’t told the girl yet, because she was honestly kind of rude. Maybe she should let her go to jail. 

“ KID?? KID?? COME ON, do I really look that young?? I’m twenty four, for the record. ” Sloane complained, rolling her eyes back & making a face to mock her. Honestly, this is why she should stick to racing. “ My plan is slowly coming together, if you’d just give me like… a minute. ” She added, feeling blood start to drip down from her nose ( a side effect of using her powers to much ). “ Unless you don’t actually want to get out of here, because in that case, I can stop what I’m doing right now. ” She really couldn’t though, not with the bandanna burning hot against her forehead, but she of course could offer it. 

         The other’s answer only made her scoff. Clearly an AMATEUR. Dark eyes once again moved UP and DOWN as she studied the other by the side. Raising an eyebrow slightly at the mentioning of a plan, she could not help but feel slightly intrigued. Finally the other seemed useful. However, the look of interest, she had offered the other only turned into slight disgust as she noticed the blood starting to drip from the other’s nose.

     It might as well be his city, considering he’s the one who’s actually out on the streets stopping criminals like her. But he knows his words aren’t exactly truth – he just has to act like he’s in charge of the situation.

     “You’ve got the wrong FAIRY TALE for that one.” Oliver said, lowering the bow slightly. it was pointed at the ground below her feet now, but it still held the same warning, because his reflexes were honed enough that he could easily raise it && fire it right at her. “But I c a n say the city is a little better for catching people who’ve failed the city. Can’t really get that in the woods.” He didn’t know where the snark was coming from, but hell, it was how she rolled, he might as well do the same. 

      “I don’t make D E A L S. So unless the deal is for you to walk out of here without me having to raise a finger, I’m not dealing.” What could a thief possibly want to make business with him for??

                    “Oh, I’m afraid I have to tell you that you’re the one who’s wrong. Robin Hood is not just a fairy tale - he’s a LEGEND. Like the Green Arrow.” A smirk spread on her lips as she looked at the green hooded man. Dark eyes narrowed slightly as she watched him lower the bow. Disappointing. Maybe the rumors about him were not true. 

        She could not help but grin at his words and she bowed her head slightly. “If that’s what you WANT I can leave the city, but I doubt you want me to leave right away.” She gave a light shrug as she studied her finger nails. “Probably a good idea to hear what I have to SAY,” a grin spread on her lips, dark eyes moved back up at the hooded man.

Despite not yet knowing the other girl’s background, nor being very inclined to share her own lifestory, Eretria couldn’t deny becoming a little intrigued by Anna. And so the rover girl decided to give her the benefit of the DOUBT.

“GOOD question. But who says we have to decide on that one right away?” 

The answer made her smirk. She liked the way the other dodged the question. Not that she was not used to answers like that. Far from it! Her eyes curiously looked the other up and down as she spoke. 

               RUNNING A HAND THROUGH HER loose hair, she sighed yet again, the threat falling dead against her ears. One cop couldn’t hold anything against her – the power she held compared to her own was minute – she almost wanted to see her try something about it. “What, you’re going to run to your friends && tell them LAUREL LANCE is alive?? How many of them do you think are going to believe you when you say that??” She asked, raising an expecting eyebrow. “That’s what I thought.” She added, before the girl in front of her could even form a sentence. “Please, keep your eyes on me. I enjoy when people watch helpless from the sidelines as I take away everything in front of them.” She mused, laughing softly, as a hand went to her collar. “Should I try that out n o w?? How would you react if I turned && screamed, right now??” 

“This isn’t a negotiation,” Alice said, amused, as she plucked the wallet out of the girl’s grasp. “Take the offer or leave it, but either way I am walking out of here with my wallet and my purse.” Still keeping her grip on the girl’s wrist, she flicked the wallet open with her other hand and coaxed out a couple of twenties, raised her eyebrows. 

Really, getting the purse back was secondary — Alice wasn’t keen on parting with it, it having been a gift to begin with and only grown in sentimental value over the years, but at the end of the day it was just a fifteen dollar bag with worn straps and a bad habit of vanishing anything that fell into the deepest corners… Hardly irreplaceable. 

Meanwhile sixty bucks wasn’t nothing, but the kid almost certainly needed it more than Alice did. Sure, she’d couch it as a payment for the safe return of her property, but only because she doubted outright charity would be well-received. “And, look, all I wanna know is if you’re eating regularly — got a safe place to stay at night — that kind of thing. I’m not looking for details. I’m not looking to get you caught. Promise.”

Her eyes narrowed at the woman in front of her. Why was she so persistent? Why could she not just let her leave? Sophiya let out a huff at the other’s words before she watched the notes appear from the wallet. Maybe this woman was not that bad after all. Still Sophiya was not going to comply to her deal. She was going to keep the purse.

Rolling her eyes at the woman’s questions, she grabbed tighter around the strap of the bag. “None of your business - as if you actually care.” She tried to get her wrist free from the other’s grip. Why did this woman insist being so annoying? After all, she was the one not wearing any shoes - who was the one needing help?
