Intro to Astarion Ancunรญn:
For Dummies Edition (do not reblog)
RULES / VERSES / HEADCANONS
Astarion was a young high elf magistrate in his 15th century home of Baldur's Gate. At the age of 39, before being hunted and brought to the point of death by a monster hunter group called Gur, he was still considered a youth in elf years. Vampire Lord Cazador "saved" Astarion from death by turning him into his vampire spawn. Or rather, vampire slave. Astarion was under the control of Cazador for nearly 200 years. Abused, beaten, starved, and used for his charm and sexual prowess to lure unsuspecting victims to, what Astarion assumed, their death by being fed upon by Cazador. The spawn's back is adorned in scars, carved into the flesh by his master. An ancient contract that more or less seals his fate to be used by Cazador to ascend to an even higher, more powerful, and more cruel being through a demonic ritual so dark that it has never been performed.
Completely unaware of this ritual, Astarion only knows slavery and vampiric banes such as being unable to walk in the sun, swim in water or enter homes without invitation. However, upon being abducted by a race of aliens called the Mind Flayers (which want to basically take over the world via mind control), a Mind Flayer tadpole was injected into his brain, somehow making him able to walk in the sun, etc. It also, more importantly, breaks the mind control that Cazador has on him, allowing him to flee from his forced and hellish servitude. This, however, comes at a great cost. For Mind Flayer tadpoles are sure to transform Astarion and all others who are infected, into Mind Flayers. A monster that maintains only false memories of one's former life. One life of servitude for another.
Astarion can be either motivated for the better, to abandon his lawful evil aspirations, help find a cure for the Mind Flayer tadpoles that have infected the citizens of Baldur's Gate, or he can be encouraged in his darker ambition to kill his master and take his place in the ancient ritual to ascend himself and become the new Vampire Ascendant. A completely new being with the power to never be subjected to, or afflicted by, the wills of others ever again. You have the choice to aid him in his quest for power, or you are able to stand firm as a moral backbone and motivation for Astarion to consider others and grow comfortable with being coined as a hero in Baldurโs Gate. Either way, his snaky and flirtatious personality will remain consistent no matter what.
Astarionโs Stats:ย
Strength: 8
Dexterity: 17
Constitution: 14
Intelligence: 13
Wisdom: 13
Charisma: 10
How is this information relevant at all? Itโs really not. It more or less says that heโs nimble, quick and sneaky. Highly skilled with his hands and incredibly spry. He can also withstand a lot of pain. Also, despite his facade of flirtatious seducer, heโs really not that convincing to anyone who is actually paying attention.
Astarionโs Preferred Wield:
Astarion is proficient with bows and daggers. So heโs skilled in both long range and short range combat. Again, just let him be a sneaky boy. Heโs basically a cat.
