i have thought about getting a restraining order against this person just because i haven’t spoken to them in like 10yrs atp but they still randomly show up n try to keep contact. i have them blocked but they straight told me they make fake accounts and build proper platforms for them so i don’t know how many times ive casually talked to them under the guise of someone else because they always reach out either here anonymously or apparently through a burner. the last one that messaged me took me to a whole ass threads/ig account of someone i thought i was friendsly with n when i asked them about it the account disappeared and now they go by a different handle entirely and they were literally one of my best friends so it just proves people really can play the fuck out of you with zero shame or remorse.

The best way to be safe from online stalkers is to not be online at all. It's an unfortunate and infuriating reality, but the more we engage with these kinds of companies, the worse its going to get. Stay safe and I hope you find a suitable resolution.

no i know that and i appreciate you looking out for me. social media in general is just trash now i barely even use it. all it is is different levels of surveillance atp. there might not be anonymity at a meta taking our info level but to the users there is definitely ways to still be anonymous even if its not with the new paid for stuff. people make fake accounts, there’s websites to just view things anonymously without having to log in, the airplane mode method…shit people will still find ways to be shitty and will still find ways to justify it meta is just now further protecting them and streamlining predatory behaviour while taking their money and acting like you’re getting something of value. its being taken straight from the twitter handbook.
