Hello darlings~! Mod Jayce here. Welcome to a new series of posts I’ll be doing called Crystal of the Week, where every week I’ll post some information on a random crystal. This week is pyrite!

Pyrite, often called fool’s gold, is a crystal with a typically cuboid structure. The reason it is called fool’s gold is because of how much it looks like real gold, and also because in the California gold rush, it was often found and thought to be gold. If, for whatever reason, you find yourself questioning whether or not your crystal is pyrite or gold, try this test- push your thumbnail into the crystal. If it leaves a mark, it’s gold. This is because pyrite is less malleable than gold, and thus can’t be marked by your fingernails.

Uses: Protection, memory enhancement, used in crystal healing for healing of the lungs

Sign: Leo

Meanings: Confidence, will, vitality, creativity

Use this stone for when you need an extra shock to get yourself going. Pyrite also represents practicality. It shields you from negativity and helps you see through facades. It’s also well used in manifestation.
