Thoughts on the Loss of GOS & Sims2Artists
I am not usually someone who gets involved in Sims community discourse or public callout-style posts, but this genuinely breaks my heart to see.
A massive amount of the custom content, creativity, and inspiration behind my work on Vermillion Sins came from communities like Garden of Shadows and Sims2Artists. They were huge pillars of the Sims 2 creative space for years.
What hurts most is not even just the shutdown itself. It’s the lack of warning.
These sites were not just forums anymore. They had become archives of nearly two decades of community history: old creators, inactive creators, forum attachments, resources, tutorials, contests, shared knowledge, and years of creativity that helped shape this community into what it became.
A simple “hey, this may go offline permanently soon, please archive what you can” would have allowed people time to preserve pieces of Sims 2 history before they vanished. Instead, so much appears to have disappeared overnight.
And to be clear, I do not think anyone is owed endless unpaid labor or permanent site maintenance. If someone no longer has the time, energy, money, or interest to continue running something, that is completely understandable.
But I do think the community should have at least been given the chance to help. People absolutely would have pitched in through backups, mirrors, technical help, donations, archival efforts, or simply having enough warning to preserve pieces of history before they disappeared.
The Sims 2 community has survived because people cared enough to preserve things. Without archivists, backups, mirrors, and Wayback captures, huge parts of this game’s creative history would already be gone forever.
And honestly, I hope this becomes a wake-up call moving forward. Preservation should matter.
TOUs and repost policies should not become barriers that result in entire pieces of community history disappearing forever the moment a creator or site owner leaves, especially in a community where everything is interconnected.
I respect active creators wanting credit and boundaries. But abandoned content should not be treated like untouchable lost media while the community watches it disappear forever. Communities preserving older Sims games and their content are a huge part of why those games remained alive and accessible long after EA itself had largely moved on from supporting them, and likely played a significant role in renewed interest surrounding things like the Sims 2 Legacy release.
I hope more people begin supporting archival efforts, mirrors, and preservation projects before more Sims history is lost for good.
SimCave
The news of what happened to GOS makes this a good time to mention, probably, something that I didn't mention earlier because of the hate I received when I scraped GOS.
But I also scraped SimCave.
billie you'll never guess what happened to GoS
I JUST FUCKING SAW, BITCH.
Okay okay, wait let me collect myself.
First, let me say that I'm actually so sad to see it go. It's been a huge part of my time in the sims community. It's a shame that was so sudden. I really loved the community and I think it's a shame that it happened like it did.
With that out of the way.
BITCH, I TOLD YOU. I TOLD ALL OF YOU. I told ALL you motherfuckers exactly what would happen and everyone bitched like "Oh!! Well, WHY would you do this? Especially when it's not like GOS is closing down anytime soon???"
I got hate mail for months. Bitches poured out of the woodwork like "Mmmm I've always hated Billie, just another thing he's done to add him to my shit list" Then HL bitched at me and acted like the scrape cost him a huge amount of case in data usage when that shit was fucking cents on the dollar. I even offered to pay HL back the like 2 dollars that it *may* have costed him to scape.
Well GUESS who fucking took their ball and went home with very little warning?
This is the entire site's worth of custom content scraped. There are a few things that you need to know.- This is not checked to see if depe
Here's the fucking scrape. It's missing 2024-2026. I be that stuff can be scraped as well though, but since it'll have to be done through Wayback it's gonna take time.
Download: Moneywell y2k computer
A frankensteined version of the Moneywell Computer. The main object includes the screen, speakers, keyboard and mouse and it is functional. The case is a separate object and decorative (use cheats to place it under desks). Both objects can be found in the Electronics / TV and Computers catalogue.
Known issues and differences
Sims will play the insert CD animation in the monitor when playing games. I didn't like that so I removed the CD. The animation will still play, but without the CD. Edit to clarify: in this computer.
When the computer breaks, sims will look as though they are repairing the monitor. This doesn't bother me, as broken monitors can sometimes smoke and spark (speaking from personal experience). Sims will turn the screen around when repairing it, their arms might clip through the speakers a bit when doing so.
This is not cloned from Monique's hacked PC as I don't use it. Feel free to make a clone that works with that mod.

Mirror's Edge Walls & Floors
The textures were extracted directly from the game files, however Mirror's Edge uses some technological game design stuff I didn't look into in order to display colors on the textures, so none of the extracted ones actually had color, it was all black & white.
In that case, I just used some screenshots I took while playing to narrow down an eyedropped color palette, then I applied those colors to every texture I turned into a TS2 wall/floor.
There's 5 unique walls & 5 unique floors, each in the same 9 colors, amounting to 45 total walls & 45 total floors. All the walls are categorized as Poured, all the floors are categorized as Tile.

🌵 New Mexico – A Custom Neighborhood for The Sims 2 [+Scripted Events]
I am thrilled to finally share my latest project with you: New Mexico, a custom neighborhood heavily inspired by the worlds of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.
Step into a sun-scorched desert landscape where the laws are relative, and every Sim has a secret to hide. Experience everything from the high-stakes drama of the criminal underworld to quiet, yet suspicious, suburban lives.
[ DOWNLOAD (ENG) | MAINHOOD ]
[ POLISH VERSION | PL ]
🔍 What’s the Story?
The neighborhood is built around a central mystery involving the Gardeners' Club—a powerful organization rumored to be behind the strange disappearances of local teenagers. Between a corrupt Mayor, a fierce dietary war (chicken vs. vegetables!), and shady business deals, you’ll find plenty of drama to explore.
👥 The Cast of Characters
Meet the legendary families, fully recreated with custom memories, relationships, and skills:
The White Family: Walter, a brilliant but frustrated chemistry teacher, and his family.
The Salamanca Family: Led by uncle Hector, this ruthless clan controls the local "oregano" market.
The Schraders: Meet a tough DEA agent with a passion for minerals and his purple-obsessed wife.
The Pinkmans: Their rebellious son is desperately trying to escape his parents' strict expectations.
Saul Goodman: Albuquerque's most colorful lawyer who always has a "plan."
Gustavo Fring: Cold and professional, he runs a chicken empire as a brilliant front for his revenge ...and many more, including Mike Ehrmantraut, Kim Wexler, and even the crew from High School Musical!
🏘️ Locations
Explore custom-built lots, including:
Los Pollos Hermanos – Perfectly clean tables and a smiling staff hiding dark secrets.
The Dog House – The best hot dogs in town, but the atmosphere is thick with suspicion.
Belize Retirement Home – Is it just a peaceful place for seniors, or where the past finally catches up with its heroes?
Goodman’s Plaza – Paradise for shopaholics and home to a very "colorful" legal office.
Lavandería Brillante – This spotless industrial laundry definitely has nothing hidden in the basement...
⚙️ Technical Information
Compatibility: Created using The Sims 2: Ultimate Collection.
Features: Each Sim has a unique biography and a carefully crafted memory log to tell their story from the moment you start playing.
Important: For the best experience, I recommend using mods that prevent memory loss for townies and allow for viewing furnished apartments. (See ReadMe.txt)
Required content: This neighborhood utilizes items from The Sims 2 Store and Pre-order bonuses. To ensure all lots and Sims display correctly (please remember to delete the IKEA chairs), download the full collection here:

As a huge fan of the Breaking Bad & Better Call Saul universe, I’ve put a lot of heart into this project. I hope you have as much fun playing it as I had building it, and that you truly enjoy this journey to New Mexico!
Happy simming! 💚
As requested by anon, this is @gryning's edit of the Sims 2 Store Curly Bob hair with added TF, CF and PF stages. Polycount: 2.1k.
When I received the request, @rudhira reached out to me with an already working and optimized all-ages file so most of the credit goes to her, all I really did was tweak the meshes.

Children’s Doodles
Here is a little Christmas present for you guys! 6 recolors to a Maxis mesh Butterfly Crawler Wall Decal. It came with Freetime, so that EP is required in order for these to work. The files are compressed.
Credits for the Mesh: EA
Art: Hand drawn by Me(It’s surprisingly hard to draw childish art!)For the hand prints I obviously used a brush though.
Enjooy! As usual, tell me if something is wrong. And as for the TOU, just use common sense. Don’t claim as your own doings. No paythingies. You know the deal!

College Assignment Disabler
Booty Link
Young Adults who start making assignments everywhere (specially when and where you don\'t want it) bothering you? No more of that! This modified object lets you disable or enable the autonomous college assignment making. You decide when and where they are allowed to make assignments. Simply place this object somewhere on a lot. It will by default disable the assignments on that lot, but you can also enable it again. Also works on community lots.
GMDC Importer/Exporter for Blender 4.1+
You might have noticed that the GMDC importer/exporter by DjAlex88 doesn't work with Blender 4.1+. So I made a compatible version… with a new feature I needed.
Download on GitHub
I've never made a Blender add-in or coded in Python before, so I hope I didn't break anything.
Please let me know if it works the same as before once you have tested it.
Update (4 Apr 2026):
New features
Morphs can be imported as separate objects (similarly to Milkshape), so that they don't lose their custom normals.
Morphs can be exported both from shape keys (as before) and separate objects (named as object_name~~morph_group::morph_name).
Fixes
Trying to export both tangents and morph normals should no longer cause Blender to throw an error or crash in some cases.
Morph normals based on key shapes should now be calculated and exported correctly.
The export form no longer shows the Bone weight threshold option under the Bounding geometry section if the Rigging data is not enabled.
Some more Maxis hair add-ons! This time the theme is... bald!
Because of the way I've put these files together, they may conflict with unexpected default replacements. But if you're downloading these, you probably want to keep the Maxis hairs anyway. The add-ons appear in the catalog just like regular Maxis hairs and will pick up any texture replacements you may have.
mhaircrewcut: Made toddler and child conversions. Edited the teen mesh to be less tall.
mhairpgskater: Made toddler and child conversions.
uhairmohawk: Made toddler and child conv-... wait, did I not say this already? Anyway, for this hair I decided to use the female mesh as a base for the age conversions. The male mesh is way taller and I didn't think it looked right, and they're mapped the same anyway.
uhairbald_bare: Edited family strings for toddlers to "disconnect" them from their original hair families (fhairbun and mhairshortcombed), and instead linked them to uhairbald_bare. "Made" a child conversion (all the resources were already there, I just had to put them together) to bridge the gap between toddler and teen.
uhairbald_stubble: Edited toddler family strings to remove it from the mhairshortgel hair family. Added custom-but-decustomized resources for the rest of the ages. Toddler-teen uses the toddler textures, while adults and elders use some... other textures that I found in the game files.

Happy new year everyone! ✨ As many people do, I stayed with my parents in my childhood home during the holidays. While on one of the old computers my parents still have, I happened to find my old TS2 files! Long story short, I've now sorted out a decent amount of previously lost Radosims/Radola cc for you to all to enjoy :) (For all the non-finnish folk; Radosims used to be the biggest TS2 fansite in Finland, and Radola was the forum attached to it. Good memories ♥)
