I’ve started reading a book, which I haven’t done in a long time, but I’m making an active effort to read a few chapter’s and then put it down so I’m not awake all night reading.
I used to read voraciously as a kid, but as an adult with not-quite-diagnosed-but-confirmed adhd I struggle with reading because it takes up all of my concentration. I always feel like I need to be doing something with my hands, and having a tv show on in the background while I do my nails or play games on my switch means I get that stimulation along with the stimulation of whatever I’m doing with my hands. But reading means I can’t do multiple things which is hard these days.
But when I do read I tend to get so sucked in that everything else stops and I keep going until the book is finished. The problem with that being I work early mornings so I can’t be staying up late reading.
So I’m struggling with stopping because I want to keep reading and find out what happens next, but I have managed to put it down for the last few nights. But I want to be able to enjoy reading again since it’s been so long since I’ve read with any sort of regularity.
