The number of times that I come back to reread your spn x Pac Rim crossover fic is honestly embarrassing at this point. But at the same time it's hard to be embarrassed about enjoying such a wonderful fic.
Like, the worldbuilding. That universe is mother-effing dense with feeling and culture and history; it is truly multidimensional, and I feel like you've done what the original screenwriters tried and failed to do: make a believable lore that not only makes sense, but feels real. You've shown how hunters (people whose professions are literally to kill freaky shit) would find their place in a world that gets thrown on it's head; how they feel in their element and out of their depths all at once. Gotdamn, before reading this fix years ago I never would have thought the two universes would fit together, but my oh my they do.
Also, gah, just the relationships. Humans truly do band together in times of crises, and romance aside, seeing them build friendships and trust and respect with other humans is just delightful. It makes so much sense that Sammy would want to help on the ground rather than fight. That boy has done enough world saving for a million lifetimes. And then Dean and Cas... Yeah, it makes sense that they'd stay for the fight. They are so selfless that of course they'd choose to use their expertise to save people. (And of course cas would stay human! Not just for the ones he loves, but for himself). And then oc, with the boys and also with others, she just grows so much, into herself and into her environment. She's meant to be there, doing what she's doing.
I mean, don't even get me started on the fluff/angst/smut. Everything so was perfectly balanced with a lean towards angst (as it should, because it's a dark time), and my heart ached for them, longed with them. They've been through so much shit together, and they're still here.
I just. This story captivates me mind and soul. If you couldn't tell. I feel like I could wax poetic for ages, but instead I'll just go give it another read or two.
holy fresh fuck, anon, i don’t even know where to START WITH THIS except
LIKE WHAT THE HELL THIS IS SO FUCKING NICE??? I COULD FEEL MY HP RESTORING AS I READ IT??? THANK YOU OH MY GODDDD?????????
And I know, right? The universes DO fit weirdly well together, or at least enough that hunters could find a place there. Sam getting involved in cleanup efforts made a lot of sense to me because that boy just wants to help people. And Dean is so much more than a hammer, of COURSE, but the man’s got a Ph. D in fighting in perfect sync with his friends, so of course he’s ideal for the Jaeger program. He’d want to take the fight to them, as Stacker would say. And as for the others, I’m totally with you there, too, ahhh.
Also! Since you’re here and you give a dang, if I haven’t said this elsewhere already: Herc being a hunter isn’t something I pulled outta my ass—look at that man’s right rolled-up sleeve (Herc what is this style, pls, u glorious trash dad ilu) and the tattoo you can JUST sorta see under it:
You CAN’T TELL ME that isn’t an anti-possession tattoo. I shan’t believe it.
ANYWAY. Shit, anon, this was nice as hell. Please un-anon yourself any ol’ time to squee about PacRim or SPN, my messages are OPEN. To anyone! And I’m pretty sure you sent this on the day the first trailer for Pacific Rim The Black dropped, whatever that anime biz is, and tbh I am HERE FOR IT. It’s gotta be better than Uprising, right?
Thank you. Seriously, thank you. This was a joy to read and you’re a joy, too. <33333333333
