I have a good family (I think, some of my friends disagree) but sometimes I wish I got to have a childhood. I know my mother didn't mean for it to happen but I was the trial run. Mistakes were made with me so they weren't with my brother. And I know she didn’t want it but I ended up taking care of my brother. The reason I read so many books so young was because I wanted to get away from home. And I love my brother but it makes me angry sometimes that he will never have to manage my father's emotions the way I did. He will never need braces because by the time he was born, my mother knew not to force her children into thumb sucking. He will be diagnosed with things because I wasn't, and look where that got me. I don't know where I'm going with this. I just wish I had a proper childhood. I wish I had one I could remember, I wish I watched cartoons and ate cereal and didn't have to wonder if there would be any food in my dad's fridge. I wish I didn't always have to be responsible. Sometimes I hate being the oldest child.
