"You de sadistic type?" Remy commented, nose scrunching in irritation as the bright lights haloed around his fingers.

Well, he was no stranger to being held captive. It wasn't the first time he had had his powers negated either; moments like these he'd have to rely on his trained skills rather than his born abilities.

"Eh, s'pose we can drive eachothe'a up de wall den."

No sleep? He may as well work on doing something about this collar then. Surveillance be damned.

Remy slid his hands down from his face, keeping his eyes shut thanks to the overhead lights. He felt around the edges of the collar, the underside, thumbing the seam where the locking mechanism seemed to be housed.

"Y'know...Wanted t'avoid anothe'a fight..." Remy's tongue moved around in his mouth, after a moment, a thin golden scrap of metal emerged from his lips.

While Alisa was serving him lunch, he had nicked the pin off of her fascinator.

He retrieved it and started picking at the side of his collar. Just another lock, he thought to himself, driven more by the headache, "Guess a li'l smooth talkin' even works on androids..."

The collar loosened just enough to break some contact with his skin and it began to glow magenta as a result. The section around the lock dissolved away into pink ash, until the gap was large enough for him to pull the contraption off his throat.

Remy let out a relieved sigh, "Whew, anyway..."

He rolled off of the bed and approached the glass she stood behind, "Know dese 're s'posed t'be blast proof an' all but...I got a headache an' dis a bit faste'a den cuttin' ma way out."

❛ ⸻ gaze  immediately  snaps   toward  the  ruined  restraint hanging  loosely  from  his  hand.     blue  depths  then narrow  beneath  harsh  fluorescent  lights.     for  a  brief  second,   genuine  surprise  crosses  picturesque mien ⸻ not  because  he  escaped  it,   but  because  he managed  to  do  it  without  her  noticing.     the  faint  glow  of  magenta  reflected  against  the  glass  between  them,   illuminating  the  smooth  contours  of  her  expression  while  the  lock  dissolved  away  into  ash.     a  tense  silence  followed.     the  low  hum  in  the  background  suddenly  seemed  louder,   accompanied  by  the  faint  warning  flicker  of  red  lights  beginning  to  pulse  within  the  containment  floor.     security  systems  detected  the  collar’s  failure.     and  still,   rosa  didn’t  move.     didn’t  call  for  backup.     didn't  reach  for  the  alarm.     instead,   she  watched  as  he  approached   ;   though  expression  remained  controlled,   something  sharper  was  hidden  underneath.     she  studied  the  familiar  glow  spreading  beneath  his  palms,   heat  beginning  to  distort  the  surface  of  glass.

request earns a raised brow and shortly after, a quiet  breath  through  nose.     almost  a  laugh  even.          ❝     no.     ❞          rather  than  retreat,     rosa  leans  face  closer.     one  hand  settled  lazily  atop  the  control  panel,   fingers  now  hovering  dangerously  close  to  the  emergency  lockdown  switch.          ❝     y ’ know…     ❞          voice  lowers  slightly.          ❝     for  someone  who  was  just  bitching  about  a  headache,   you  sure  do  have a lot of energy.     ❞          she  knew  what  kind  of  cell  this  was.     blast - proof  and  reinforced.     it was designed  specifically  to  withstand  enhanced  individuals.     if  it  was  beginning  to  fracture  already,   then  the  reports  about  his  powers  hadn’t  exaggerated  nearly  enough.          ❝     do  you  have  any  idea  how  much  paperwork  you’re  going  to  cause  me  if  you  break  this  thing  ?     and  trust  me ⸻ if  this  escalates,   they’re  not  sending  me  back  to  deal  with  you.     ❞          index  lightly  taps  on  the  space  next  to  the  alarm.          ❝     they’ll  send  in  someone  who  won’t  hesitate  to  crack  your  skull  in with  the  palm  of  his  hand  the  second  that  glass  shatters…     ❞          a  pause.     then,   unexpectedly  softer,          ❝     so  maybe  sit  back  down  before  you  make  this  worse  for  yourself…     ❞

"Not fo' free I ain't." Especially after that stunt he pulled? The second Lars set eyes on him he'd choke the air out of his lungs.

 He   stared   at   her   serious,   more   than   serious,   almost   apathetically,   prolonging   the   silence   as   he   observed   her   small   stature.     

   ‟        no.         ”      he   said   in   such   a   sharp    tone   .        ‟      I'm   not   going   to   lift   you,   you   weight   a   lot.     ”    Which   was   a   lie,   but   he   couldn't   help   but   bother   her.

He   stared   at   her   once   more,   prolonging   the   silence.   If   he   remembered   correctly,   there   had   never   been   a   window   where   she   was   even   remotely   taller   than   him.   But   he   wasn't   about   to   argue   about   such   nonsense.       ‟      I   think   you   were    dreaming   when   that   happened,     ”    he   said   simply,   observing   how   beautiful   she   had   become   over   the   years.   In   truth,   she   had   always   been   very   beautiful,   but   perhaps   when     he   was   younger   he   hadn't   been   very   interested   in   that   sort   of   thing,   or   at   least   he   didn't   remember   having   time   for   it.     

   ‟     Oh,   of   course,   now   it's   my   fault.   As   far   as   I   remember,   I   didn't   disappear   because   I   wanted   to     …             ”     his   eyes   rolled   dramatically.   It   really   wasn't   his    fault   he   had   left,   but    that's   how   things   had   turned   out.       ‟      Ah,   of   course     …        you   can't   go   around   without   hearing   it.     ”    Almost   once   again,   his   eyes   pressed   to   roll,   but   they   didn't.            ‟     You   still   have   a   beautiful   face,   as   always.         ”  

❝ ⸻   just  my  face  ?     ❞     she  echoes,   brows  lifting  in  feigned  offense.     the  curve  of  roseate  lips  only  then  betray  amusement.     stepping  a  little  closer  again,   closing  that  space  he’d  so  easily  claimed  with  height,   royal's  gaze  lifts  to  meet  his  fully.     hands  sit  on  hips.          ❝     that's  quite  selective  of  you.     ❞          but  a  soft,   light  and  airy  giggle  follows   ;   there’s  a  hint  of  something  more  sincere  beneath  it.          ❝     and  here  i  thought  you’d  say  i’d  become  absolutely  breathtaking…  or  devastatingly  beautiful…  something  a  little  more  creative.     ❞          tone  teases.

at  the  mention  of  his  absence,   expression  flickers ⸻ it  was  subtle,   and  passes  without  any  pressing.     instead,   peach  exhales  softly.          ❝     …for  many  years.     ❞          a  murmur   ;   she  was  quieter,   though  words  never  accusatory. just  acknowledging.     then,   just  as  quickly  as  it  left,   the  lightness  returns,   smile  blooming  again.     she  didn't  want  to  dwell  on  the  past.          ❝     well,     ❞          sovereign  continues,   smoothing  an  imaginary  crease  from  dress,          ❝     since  you’re  here  now,   i  suppose  i’ll  forgive  the  lack  of  proper  praise…  this  time.     you  did  miss  me at least,   didn't  you  ?     ❞
