Walked to the drug store to pick up my drugs (take your meds) and it do be warm season. There’s been construction work right beside the drugstore for a while and I thought “I should buy them some popsicles.” It’s a small site. I bought 2 boxes of six, one regular and one sugar-free (just in case). I head back out and through a tear in the tarp on fence get one of the workers attention. I waved, he waved back and I put the boxes over the fence.

He came over and got the boxes and because my life is an embarrassment my ring came off and landed on the other side of the fence. Of course I said something (wishing I could just disappear) and he found it and then said “well now I’ve got to put it back on your finger.”

Well played sir. So I put my finger through the fence and he put my ring back on. I said I hope there were enough and he said they’d enjoy them.

I’m about to walk away. Hell yeah! Did a thing that made me happy. Interacted with other people like I so desperately need to practice. Also got embarrassed, what else is new. Then he asked my name. Easy simple standard. THEN he asked my pronouns and I just about forgot who I was. I was not expecting that, and it made my brain short circuited. I fucking giggled out my pronouns. FUCKING GIGGLED.

The other night husband and I were watching a documentary about the yeti where they were doing DNA analysis of samples of supposed yeti fur, and every one of them came back as bears.

Anyway, the next night we watched a thing about some pig man who is supposed to live in Vermont. People said it had claws and a pig nose but walked upright like a man. Now, I happen to know that sideshows used to shave bears and present them as pig men. So every piece of evidence they gave of this monster sounds to me like a bear with mange.

So now the running joke in our house is that everything is bears. Aliens? Bears. Loch Ness monster? Bear. Every cryptozoological mystery is just a very crafty bear.

Bears. They’re everywhere. Be wary. Anyone or anything could be a bear.
