No it's not uncreative. No the design isn't shitty. No the backstory doesn't have to make perfect sense or be all figured out. Yes it can be self indulgent or unrealistic or overly sappy. No you don't draw your favorite character too much. Yes you can flip flop between developing whatever characters you want. No you don't have to keep the parts of your character that you don't like or that make you uncomfortable just for the sake of consistency, realism or whatever else
Did you know. That it's okay to make imperfect characters. Did you know you don't owe anyone a certain level of quality or a certain style of writing.

Did you know that the rise of cringe culture, "Mary sues" and the whole sphere of art critics and ranters getting popular on YouTube around the 2010s/ 20teens contributed to alot of people having terrible self esteem about their creativity. That so many people still as adults remember the things they were mocked about as teens. Over what? Ocs? Drawing pictures of rainbow haired wolf princesses? Imagining they were dating sans undertale? Is that worth making people too scared to draw or make certain kinds of characters. Look in the notes. I guarantee you'll find more than one admitting they stopped doing something they loved because people made fun of them. For doing a hobby. For not being good enough.
You don't need to be good enough to do art. You can just do art. I'm rooting for you.

Tldr Amnesty International, global human rights organisation, published a report called 'A growing threat: the anti-rights movement in the UK'. In it is detailed, amongst others, a whole bunch of transphobic groups and organisations, including Beira's Place, JK Rowling's trans exclusionary sexual violence support service. JK Rowling threw a shit fit and got Amnesty to take the report down by threatening libel. This was obviously not enough, because you can't appease a fascist, so now she's going to bankroll a bunch of lawsuits anyway through the JK Rowling Women's Fund.*

I miss when ads were a single click and then they’re gone. Now every ad has a minimum of three phases where you watch a video, exit the still frame of fake gameplay, and then exit the app download. That doesn’t even touch on the ones that forcibly take you to another app after opening a tab in safari without you ever touching the screen.
I hate advertising. I hate that you can’t do anything without companies jumping down your throat with mostly bullshit ads. I hate that billboards exist. I really appreciate your post about the increasing predatoriness of gambling companies, including (especially?) ones that don't market themselves like 'traditional' gambling.
I hope this isn't too silly a question, but what do you think about hedging against negative outcomes by betting on them? I don't want to support companies like Polymarket and Kalshi, but sometimes it's tempting to place a small bet that, e.g., Ken Paxton beats James Talarico, so that if Talarico wins I have something to celebrate and if Paxton wins I at least have a bit of extra money.
I think it unnecessarily puts you at a great risk of being affected by these horrible companies' predatory tactics, and can act as a wedge opening the door to gambling addiction.
It is very common to start gambling through small bets with a rationalisation that makes perfect sense to you. Some people do it because they're already watching sports, and a small bet makes it feel more fun or intense to them. Sometimes it's a social activity because a group of coworkers is doing it. Your reasoning is not dissimilar because you're balancing a small loss of money against a potential psychological boost. It feels casual and harmless, when in reality you are allowing a very serious opportunity for exploitation.
These companies want to give you a gambling addiction, they will try their absolute best to make it a reality, get as much money as possible from you, and destroy your entire life. They spend billions of dollars learning how to manipulate you and break your brain. You are not immune to this, and you are not immune to addiction. No one is.
Ultimately you will have the maximum amount of money possible by not engaging with gambling at all. Long term, gambling will only ever make you lose money. Not allowing it to enter your life at all is the biggest available win here.
Also obviously I think gambling on political outcomes and financially contributing to these platforms are both morally wrong, but that's a separate personal judgement.
IDK I think if cis men are being told that being fat will lower their testosterone and make them Insufficiently Masculine, and cis women are being told that being fat will raise their testosterone and make them Excessively Masculine, and fat trans people are being denied the right to medically transition if they're fat, and thin trans people are warned against HRT because it will make them fat (and this is said about both testosterone and estrogen HRT), and androgynous-presenting people are told that only thin people count as androgynous...

it sucks that the overwhelming majority of medical messaging around salt/sodium is "evil poisonous substance that you're definitely already eating way too much of," because like. you do still need it. (trust me, as a POTS-haver, I've had to completely rewire my own brain about salt.) and you need more salt when the entire northern hemisphere is hot enough to fry an egg on. ever tried sucking down the recommended 64oz of hydration per day entirely as water, only to find you're peeing constantly without any of the purported benefits of being "hydrated"? assuming you don't have another medical condition that causes frequent urination, your body probably needed more salt/electrolytes to be able to hold onto that water and make use of it. if there was ever a time to keep a sports drink/pedialyte/etc within constant reach, it's when the heat index is 110°F/43°C.
I hate that there's no room for nonbinary people in media. When a character's gender is "ambiguous" (neither seen as masculine nor feminine) and solely referred to with neutral terms such as "they/them" and person, individual, etc, people can't stand that. They can't stand the idea that a nonbinary person wouldn't want to be a boy or girl, isn't a boy or a girl. They have to be a girlthing or a boything (why are all nonbinary people things? Why is it never girlenby or boyenby?), they have to be transfem or transmasc. When they're put into relationships, they have to be either lesbian or gay. Nobody can be cenelian or enbian or diamoric or gai or strayt or trixic or toric. That doesn't exist.
I'm sick of it. I'm sick of seeing nonbinarity be shoved into category after category after category when the whole point of being nonbinary is that we want to opt out.
