The new White Dwarf is all about DoW IV. Am I excited about DoW IV?
Not especially...
For one, I have no way of playing a modern game, so there's that.
For two, DoW the first is, like, one of my favourite games of all time. No hyperbole. I have sunk hundreds if not thousands of hours into that game, most of it when it was on disc. It is fantastic, and the mods are amazing (vivid memories of playing with some Imperial Guard mod with a buddy before Winter Assault was a thing).
So for three, I have no real faith that what they're cooking up now - in light of two and three and the many years since the first one came out (two decades, let us remember!) - is what I'd want anyway. A lot of people really liked two! And two is fun! But it isn't like one and that is where my heart lies.
(No-one likes three.)
So in conclusion I am old.
(And in further conclusion another big reason I love DoW is because it captures a very specific era of 40k - you go back and get to see old-style Dark Eldar with BDSM Mandrakes! Oldcrons! Broadsides with railguns on their shoulders! The old-style Tankbustas which I still have!)

So there is presently a conversation rumbling along in the UK which basically boils down to "How transparent should the police be in revealing details of cases to the public?" and the reason why this is a conversation is because we live in an age where, in the absence of detail, detail will be provided by any random yahoo on the internet inside of five picoseconds.
The idea is, therefore, that if the police are honest and open about things then there will be less room for speculation.
This is bollocks.
This is bollocks because it doesn't fucking matter what the police say. If there is a crime noteworthy enough to be a topic of public discussion - typically violent, nasty ones - then anyone with an angle will have an angle and will work on that angle. Does what the police say line up with the angle? Great! Use it. Does what the police say not line up with the angle? Boo! The police are lying! Keep going anyway!
It doesn't matter!
More's the point, as much as we shit on the police (usually rightly), criminal investigation is not something which happens in ten seconds. You do not instantly have possession of all the facts. Indeed, some of what you might initially believe to be facts might not be facts at all! You might have to re-evaluate! You might arrest someone, then it might turn out you didn't need to, and so you let them go. That happens!
But nowadays people see that and think you were LYING or there's a COVERUP or a CONSPIRACY or you're HIDING THE TRUTH BECAUSE THE WOKE LEFTIES ARE SECRETLY IN CONTROL or any other manner of dumb shit. You literally would need to provide blow-by-blow updates on everything to keep these cunts satisfied and, again, it doesn't fucking matter.
I understand the rationale! The police have to do something! But whhhyyyyyy is this a discussion? Whhhhhhyyy does no-one doing the discussion admit that it doesn't fucking matter because if you're the sort of person to say "BROWN ASYLUM SEEKER DID CRIME START THE RACE WAR NOW" then you're unlikely to be swayed by the police suggestion their investigation is pointing in another direction.
The solution is for people to be less shit and less stupid, and that isn't going to happen, so this is just life now. Online nonsense, lies, and riots.
Yay.
Oh! And even more because now we have AI to just make fake shit anyway, for free, faster than ever.
Double yay.

played a game of khorne vs nids yesterday, here's some memes from it
And that's Spider Pope complete!
Bridge Troll
In a grinding and unpleasant year, it's still nice to see people like Ann Widdecombe and Lindsay Graham dying. There was one decent thing they were capable of doing, and they did it.
(Though it seems Widdecome needed help - why bother? She wasn't going to stick around that much longer! Come on.)
(To clarify, you shouldn't murder anyone, no matter how vile they are. The investigation is ongoing, obviously, but it is pretty amusing that Farage et al are trying to use it as an example of the terrifying dangers of being a shit-spouting fascist in politics, while the fact the (current) alleged perpreator drove three-hundred odd miles to kill a woman pushing eighty and who is a political non-entity kinda suggests, you know, he mighta been a touch unwell more than anything else. This ain't calling Jo Cox a traitor and shooting her in broad daylight.)
Also, Reform using this as a springboard to say that caps on political donations are bad because they won't be able to afford additional security is pretty fucking shameless.
Yes. Security. You want the money from all those people for security. Totally. We believe you. That sounds like a real thing. Yes.
