Correct gendering: when a persons gender is affirmed through correct use of name, pronouns and other gendered words in positive, neutral and negative situations in the same way it would be for a cis person. e.g. "This is Mandy, my girlfriend." (gf is a trans woman). The intention is simply to refer to the person correctly.

Misgendering: when a persons gender is not affirmed and they are instead refered to as their SEG in every possible context. e.g. "This is Mandy, my girlfriend." ('g'f is a trans man). The intention is to deny the true gender of the person by ignoring it or outright denying it.

Degendering: when someone avoids Correct Gendering in a way that also avoids Misgendering. The person will often avoid using the persons name and pronouns where possible and if pronouns are required will exclusively use 'they/them' with the excuse 'but those pronouns are literally neutral' even when aware of the actual pronouns and gender of the person they're speaking about/to. For those who use they/them only the person may excessively avoid pronouns or misgender. The intention is to deny the true gender of the person whilst gaining a degree of plausible deniability I.e."Why are you mad I called you they/them those are neutral pronouns it's not transphobic to be gender neutral."<- has been told the trans person does not use they/them and does not want those pronouns to be used.

Malgendering: when someone seems to be engaging in Correct Gendering but the Correct Gendering is conditional on the context always being negative and in some situations is actively revoked if the person hates an individual or group enough to start employing Misgendering. Malgendering involves insults, stereotyping, predjudice and bigotry based on the persons gender. However, since it avoids Misgendering, people who employ Malgendering techniques also engage with plausiable deniability about their predjudice/bigotry towards the trans person. The intention is to make life as their gender so miserable for a person they detransition or at the very least live in shame of their choice.

malgendering is a form of transphobia wherein a transphobic person uses their victim's correct gender to harass or demean them. it is meant to be the inverse of misgendering, where a transphobe uses the victim's incorrect gender to harass or demean them.

misgendering towards trans women can be as simple as "youre a man." but malgendering is more insidious, like someone saying "you really are a girl" when she makes a mistake in order to insult her intelligence. the phrase "you really are a girl" is positive when removed from the context of the trans woman making a mistake and the transphobe's sarcastic tone that implies shes stupid in an misogynistic way.

if a trans man does something like standing up for himself against an unfair situation or asks for better accommodations/treatment, and a transphobe wants to use that to imply he is selfish and entitled, they might say "trans men really are men" which again, is a true statement on its own. but in the context of the situation, its clear the transphobe is using the stereotypical worst qualities of men to insult and undermine someone's very identity.

malgendering can be any severity of harm, just like misgendering. my mom slipping up in the first months of my transition and accidentally calling me "she", and a bigot shouting "YOURE A WOMAN YOULL NEVER BE A MAN" at me are both examples of misgendering, but one is much worse than the other and its the same with malgendering. being told "trans men are the men of the trans community" as an insult is annoying and rude but not a big deal. however, right now ICE is torturing trans men in concentration camps by forcing them to do pointless and grueling labor. and when they become exhausted, theyre told "I thought you were a man. if youre really a man this should be easy for you" these are both examples of malgendering. one is a microaggression, the other is literal torture.

As Pride Month comes to an end, I just want to remind you that July is Disability Pride Month and there's a flag and everything!

There's no way they wouldn't force femininity onto a trans woman to 'prove' she's a woman the way they assume womanhood on a GNC cis man, no way they'd support her being GNC or a butch as vinterfemnism said ("you can't be gnc because you're EXPECTED to dress this way due to your ASAB")

There's no way they wouldn't judge a trans man both for being masculine ("just another boring toxic masculine man") or feminine ("you can't be gnc because you're EXPECTED to dress this way due to your ASAB").

There's no way they wouldn't have weird opinions on nonbinary presentation.
