Happy new year! Here's the end of the 1953 EC Comics adaptation of Ray Bradbury's "There Will Come Soft Rains," first published in Weird Fantasy #17.

From a reverse image search, I found the website Show Your Stripes, run by the University of Reading in the UK, which is likely where the above graph originated. It provides temperature data for various regions of the world from approximately 1900-2025. For example, here are graphs for Canada, India, and Papua New Guinea:

This is a critical admission: the creator admits it is propaganda, not science.

The project is hosted by the University of Reading and uses data from the UK Met Office

both institutions that benefit from continued climate alarm.

Ed Hawkins is an IPCC lead author. The IPCC's entire mandate is to demonstrate that climate change is a crisis requiring global policy action.

This is not an independent scientist, this is an institutional actor with a vested interest in the narrative.

The visualization has been widely promoted by the BBC, Vox, and other mainstream outlets, all of which have their own institutional biases toward the climate narrative.

Alternative interpretations of the same data are not given equal visibility.

Flaw 1: The Baseline Problem

The stripes are based on temperature anomalies, the difference from a baseline average. But the choice of baseline is arbitrary. Choose a warmer baseline, and more stripes are blue. Choose a colder baseline, and more stripes are red. The visual impact is entirely dependent on a methodological choice that is never explained to the viewer.

Flaw 2: No Scale or Axis Labels

The graphic contains no numerical scale, no Y-axis, and no temperature values. The viewer cannot tell whether the warming is 0.5°C or 5°C. This is not an oversight, it is a deliberate design choice to maximize emotional impact by removing all context.

Flaw 3: The "All Red" Illusion

The stripes create a visual impression of continuous, accelerating warming. But the underlying data shows fluctuations, plateaus, and even cooling periods (e.g., the post-WWIl cooling period, the "pause" of the early 2000s). These are erased by the stripe format, which compresses each year into a single color and arranges them linearly.

Flaw 4: Correlation vs. Causation

The stripes show warming. They do not show that the warming is:

• Primarily caused by human CO, emissions

• Dangerous or catastrophic

• Irreversible

• Worse than natural variability

These are inferences that the viewer is encouraged to make, but they are not contained in the data itself The visualization is a Trojan horse for a full ideological package.

Flaw 5: The "Communications" Excuse

Hawkins himself admits the stripes are "not intended as a scientific graph". But if it is not a scientific graph, why is it presented as scientific proof? This is the classic propaganda tactic: present a simplified, emotional visual as "science," then retreat to "it's just communication" when criticized. You cannot have it both ways.

Show Your Stripes is not a scientific analysis. It is a carefully engineered visual propaganda tool that uses legitimate raw temperature data to create an emotional, alarmist narrative. It omits scale, baseline context, uncertainty, regional variation, and all other relevant data. Its creator admits it is not a scientific graph. It is promoted through coordinated global campaigns and institutional networks that benefit from climate alarm. It is a textbook example of narrative manipulation.

Much of the raw data shows very slight warming. That is a fact. But warming is not automatically a crisis. The stripes are designed to make you skip that logical step-to go directly from "warming" to "emergency" without passing through "how much?", "why?", "is that bad?", and "what should we do about it?"

In the end periods of variance in the climate are entirely normal and a natural phenomenon people have no control over.
