peter burke is so funny bc he’s a completely normal guy except he’s been obsessed with two people to a point of stalking (his wife and the conman he chased for years) but it’s fine bc they’re just as obsessed with him 😭???
No don’t leave this in the tags I need it
We all have that one mutual in law we fear wants to wear our skin
In the tags and just curious, why did you like Emma M Lyon 6 so much less than 5?
In truth, I am not the target audience for these books. The quirky, Stars Hollow feel of St Crispiens does not appeal to me, so I am bored when the story focuses on things like the scavenger hunt, or the pirate. I am also bored by the reprobates, so books that include more of them get a lower rating from me. I was annoyed almost to the point of DNF-ing the first book for the second time when Aunt Eugenia insisted that Emma italicize words in her head. I like Emma. I like Islington and Hawks, and I'm glad that most of the story has to do with them, or I wouldn't be interested in continuing. I have only gotten through the six books that I have because I spend so much time in the car, and the audiobook narrator is actually really good, which is extremely rare.
I recommend these books to people often because they are objectively good, there are just so many elements that make me roll my eyes.
As I have only listened to the audiobooks, these names may all be spelled wrong lol

Nothing more painful than when a kind stranger tells you about some random AI feature in a way that is clearly meant to be helpful and you have to choose between nodding along in despair or turning wokezilla 3000 on them
womanhood is by definition an exclusive club. we exclude people who are not women.
if you are a man, we exclude you. we exclude you gladly, proudly, and because you are physically stronger than us, we exclude you under threat of weapons when necessary.
womanhood is not meant to be inclusive.
another word to get comfortable with: discriminatory
we discriminate against men in our club called Womanhood. by happy obligation. we have discriminating judgment.
okay, this color combo is nice- who’s the icon? I feel like I should recognize it
Amanda Root in Persuasion < 333 I may find another still, but this is the one I happened to have downloaded
Finding a green one was a surprise lol

Hot take:
Religious trauma is real, and stories about it absolutely have a place. But I’d love to see more stories where a character realizes the harmful version of Christianity they were taught isn’t the same as Christ.
Give me characters who deconstruct abuse instead of faith.
Give me characters who discover a deeper, kinder, more compassionate Christianity.
Give me doctors, teachers, farmers, artists, scientists, and ordinary people who see their work as their vocation.
Give me faith rooted in love instead of fear.
Not every Christian character’s happy ending has to be walking away from God. Sometimes it’s finally meeting the God they were searching for all along.
Did you guys hear they're rebooting Goncharov as an 8 part HBO miniseries? :/
they should invent going outside without people looking at you
