"The little glimpses Brooks gives us into the wild life of a 1920's starlet are fascinating, and made me want to read an entire book just about teen movie stars partying in the Jazz Age (which, really, is what The Chaperone should have been)."
This comment rubbed me the wrong way.
Mostly bc I disagree. In the Jazz Age, the 1920s heavily exploited underage starlets, and framing their wild life as fascinating shows a profound lack of awareness. It sounds like a simple comment on GoodReads from a female user who's life may be wistfully sheltered. Some readers completely ignore or minimize the grooming
But with time, (and this i just me speaking from a purely personal standpoint irl) when you're on some specific work environments, you tend to see the glimpses of how some people are deep down okay with grooming.
Reading about Luise Brooks. Came to the conclusion she was her own type of Bojack Horseman.
As someone who isn't from the US and whose first language isn't English, it just dawned on me: when people in the media or on platforms like this use college kids to mean innocent, naive young people, theyβre literally talking about legal adults who can vote and are wealthy enough to afford higher education and go to college. How are they "kids"?

I have the feeling the mangaka was inspired in Brigitte Bardot but maybe that's me.

To think some workshops hire models to play the part of female craft woman. Sometimes, young craftwoman. And then they sometimes aren't only fake but also create with ai.
