i feel like its necessary to point out, again, that a lot of the world is going all in on renewable energy. fossil fuels have become bad business. yes, even under profiteering capitalism.

a lot of the biggest investors are not interested in investing in fossil fuels anymore and have been divesting from fossil fuels because its too risky and unstable and destined to become stranded assets that will stop turning a profit. a good portion of the money going towards fossil fuels is from governments (like the u.s and canada) that are propping up these industries with government subsidies. basically, the taxpayer is flipping the bill.

and governments are using the general population's ignorance when it comes to renewables and electrification to convince the tax-paying public to continue supporting the oil and gas industry with this untrue data-defying argument that doing so is necessary and important for the future of the economy.

It’s really surprising that they didn’t think about the fact that The Hobbit does not have as much to work with.

"but we don't actually mean all of them" Words have meaning. All means all, and the attempt to backpedal it makes you look like a spineless coward.

"it's just venting" Your way to vent is to happily imagine genocide? That is what killing the entirety of a population for a trait would be, and while you could never do it, people who have those traits will see what you say and hold you to your hatred.

my ick has nothing to do with it. pedophilia is inherently harmful and i don't give a fuck if some pedophiles are queer lol. you can't have pocd if you're attracted to children; you can only have shame about your attraction. pedojacketing is bad because pedophilia is bad, and associating queer people with pedophilia is bad. you are a fucking dumbass.

even if a pedophile never harms a child directly, every pedophile who seeks community with other pedophiles, who ever verbalizes attraction to children outside of therapeutic context, is encouraging a culture of child abuse and is viewing children as sexual objects rather than vulnerable human beings. even masturbating to fantasies of children in private is bad because you are actively rewarding and reinforcing your own warped view of children.

There are so many reasons a person may choose not to come out and there is no reason a person would owe the public or a stranger that information. Certainly it's not owed simply because someone is famous.

Call me whatever names you wish, but I think this is a much better (and healthier) attitude than “anyone under 18 should never be allowed to see any sexual imagery ever”

(For reference: this was at the Tom of Finland exhibition, containing actual, queer, kinky af pornography. There were definitely some young people there, perhaps in their late teens. There was even a parent with their baby who was probably too young to understand anything at all. And guess what, all those people are probably going to be fine.)
