Wtf is dandadan and why do people like it. I skimmed the first episode just to watch some minor get assaulted and almost r worded by aliens. People like this shit, what the fuck is with people wanting these themes in every fucking anime like maybe stop itâs sick and feels like itâs just the animators and writers getting off and everyone is okay with it because âwell itâs only in the first episodeâ YEA AND?? It still happened and donât say itâs for the plot. They couldâve done something else. This is why I donât watch animeâs anymore too much of this shit
I think the problem is that you skimmed it. Dandandan isn't something to watch lightly. I understand that it's uncomfortable to watch ,but that's one of the main themes in dandandan. It's isn't for the plot, it's for the social commentary. It's literally aliens and yokai(inhuman) trying to turn humans into more inhuman things. Rape (this isn't tictok, we don't have to censor ourselfs for the sake of advertisers) is never glorified in dandandan, but it is a present theme , because it is a very real, present theat in real life. Dandandan is meant to make viewers uncomfortable! Dandandan was never a fun, zany romcom, it's a social commentary about how systems and patterns of abuse shape and dehumanize the people who live in that society and the way the victims and support groups find each other and rehumanize eachother. It's about taking back agency.
There's catharsis in watching something that recognizes this , and the joy of found family and solidarity. Not all anime is meant to be watched with your brain turned off. It's ok to be uncomfortable with works that have themes relating to sexual assault. You don't have to watch it. But don't assume that your skimming is all there is to a show, many are meant to be viewed critically and trust their audience to look beyond what is explicitly told.
Yeah, it's not a show about sexual assaulting kids. It's a show about beating the shit out of the people who assault kids. Their favorite activity is beating up assholes.
