idk if it's just cause im black but i really have never vibed with the whole 'transfem catgirl/puppygirl/maid/robot girl/mousegirl etc' thing cause it's like. overwhelmingly cutesy pale skinny anime girls who kiss and like idk man do what you want but it's really isolating to be black and have this culture be the overwhelming transfem culture.
Transfeminism and transfem culture online is OVERWHELMINGLY white. And I say that as a white transfem.
Either that or it's majority stolen/co-opted from Japanese culture with the emphasis on anime and whatnot.
EXAAAACTLY. i can see sometimes where they're coming from with the anime, since it's an accessible subculture for young transfems to experiment with being pretty/cute, but it's not very welcoming if you're not white.
I can imagine. Really wish there was more room for POC in the trans community in general. Unfortunately, most of the vocal voices are white and privileged, and they just looove to shoot down any attempts at uplifting TPOC voices or acknowledging their oppression. Unless of course it's mentioning transmisogynoir in an attempt to "own" trans men of color who talk about their oppression.
Hence why I do my best to platform as many TPOC voices as possible whenever I can. Especially non-western voices.
