Aw Fuck Its Everywhere

Character A is stuck in the library studying. They knew they were going to be stuck for a while so they brought food before hand and get into a private study room.

They eat and everything is fine at first after but then A’s stomach starts to hurt a little. At first they think maybe it’s just nerves or dehydration so they take a swing of water to settle it. Yet they can’t help but notice how awful it feels going down their throat and hitting their stomach. So A makes a note to hurry up so they can get home and deal with this in private.

Time passes and As stomach only continues to feel worse. To the point where A can’t even focus on their work instead they’re cradling their gurgling stomach. Stuck on the crappy library chair trying to muffle any burps to not disturb anyone.

At this point A knows that something is wrong and that they need to find a bathroom, but the moment they uncurl to get up, their stomach tightens. A they can feel their lunch crawling up their stomach. Whether they like it or not they’re going to vomit now.

The only container around is the plastic bin their food was in so A leans over it and returns the digested food back to its container. First they try to be quiet but it becomes audible as their strength and care drains from them. Once they’re finally done they put the lid back on, pack up their stuff and leave. Avoiding eye contact with anyone as they throw the makeshift puke bucket into the trash and walk back to their dorm.

They make a note to email their teacher for an extension, and to never order from that restaurant again.

Characters puking after seeing a body

Gagging at the thought of or someone mentioning eating

Stress induced vomit

Whimpering after vomiting for a while

Puking on someone then having the sickie frantically apologize and having the caretaker try to calm them down

Curling up against a heating pad to calm their stomach

Characters thinking their upset stomach is just nerves and finding out it wasn’t at the worst possible time

Fainting after puking

Ah yes, nothing better than going into the tag for your main kink and seeing this kind of bullshit:

Now, see, I’m a more considerate human being than the OP of that post, so I’m NOT going to tag them or reblog directly from them.  Because invading a tag specifically to spew hate at people who are minding their own business is extremely rude.

But I also couldn’t let this go unanswered.

First, let me say that the emeto community on Tumblr is one of the most welcoming, drama-free groups I’ve had the privilege of being a part of in a long, long time.  You are all great.

Second, a significant portion of us actually have some degree of emeto.ph.o.b.ia.  (See how considerate I’m being?  I’m even disguising that word so that people searching for the phobia won’t accidentally come to my blog and be upset!  It’s not hard to not be an asshole.) 

Personally, exploring the kink side of the issue has done wonders for me in getting over the phobia side.  Just last week a co-worker was going on about how he didn’t feel well, his lunch wasn’t settling right, his stomach hurt, etc.  In the past that would have been enough to send me into a full-blown panic attack.  This time, for the first time ever, I was like, “I think I read a sickfic that started out like this…  Heh.”  Not that I wasn’t sympathetic to my co-worker (who didn’t actually puke, btw), but I also didn’t freak out.

Don’t knock exposure therapy, in other words.

Third, those of us with this kink are well aware of how gross, unsanitary and socially-unacceptable it is.  For some, that’s the draw in the first place.  For others, it’s a source of shame.  I am absolutely terrified that someone in RL will find out I have this kink.  If someone discovered regular ol’ p0rn on my computer it would be embarrassing, but hey, everybody gets their rocks off somehow, it’s not the end of the world.  If they found emeto stuff, I would be mortified beyond belief.

Believe me, I would much rather have a more mainstream kink that doesn’t get mocked and insulted at every turn.  It’s not something I chose out of a catalog one day.  I’ve had this kink as long as I can remember.  It’s not going away any time soon.

I always tag my posts #emetophilia.  It’s up to other users to blacklist and avoid it if they know it’s going to be a problem for them.

Fourth, I don’t know who pissed puked in the OP’s cornflakes (couldn’t resist), but the world does not revolve around them.  It’s not like any of us have this kink for the purpose of pissing that person off, specifically.  (Or pissing off anyone, for that matter.)  Does it suck to have your phobia triggered?  Hell yes.  But the correct response is to blacklist certain tags, block blogs dedicated to it, maybe remind people you know to tag and keep that content away from you, and move on.  It’s not to antagonize everyone who has different opinions, insult them, and make ableist comments about their mental health.

Newsflash, a lot of us do have mental health issues.  That has nothing to do with our kinks.  But I know a large percentage of our community has depression, and having some random person go into our tag and try to make us feel bad about a kink we can’t help having isn’t helping any.
