Shiver me timbers

I’ve been been slowly adding to this since like late 2023 and finally decided to post it, some I’ve given a little summary of, some I think didn’t need one : D

Warnings for both illness and non Illness related reasons to vomit, please take care and skip this list if you are someone who may get worried over finding about new Illnesses or things that may affect health, please look after yourself

Also I am not a doctor, I do not claim to be a medical professional and this list is intended for fictional writing only

Also also these were at least not that known to me, I cannot guarantee these are not as known/ talked about lol

Okay sorry for the long warning, list is under the cut :)

“You look terrible.” “I don’t care if I’m sick, I will throw shit at you.”

carrying them back to bed and tucking them in

“You try to get up again and I swear by everything that is holy, I will tie you down.” “Kinky.” “Sleep!”

holding them through a coughing fit, wiping sweat and hair out of their face

“How am I supposed to say no to that cute face?” “… Can you bring me my laptop—” “No. Now sleep.”

head scratches, curled into their lap

“I’m making you my mom’s home remedy. I remember about 80% of the recipe, the rest is a freestyle, but it’s the thought that counts, no?” “Give me the number for posion control.”

testing their temperature not with a thermometer or their hand, but with kisses

“I’m sick, I’m allowed to be whiny.” “Hm. Fine, just this once.”

feeding soup even when the other protests that they can eat by themselves

“Why are you here?” “I heard you’re sick. Didn’t want our petty grievances getting in the way of keeping your ass alive.”

gently feeding them broth, soup and teah

“This is humiliating.” “Nothing humiliating about asking for help every once in a while.”

bringing medication to their bedside and trying to decipher the doctor’s scribbles instructions

“You’re hot.” “Thank you, love, but I don’t think right now is the time to—“ “You’re burning up. You have a fever.” “Oh.”

the bedroom slowly getting more cluttered as medication, bowls, books, games, tissues, and other stuff piles up

“Did you manage to sleep a bit?” “Mhm. Weird dreams though.”

staying up at night with with worry, holding their sick lover to their chest and watching over them

“We’re having movie night and I get to pick the movie, because I’m sick and require pampering.” “You’re pushing it.” “You know you love it.”

Stumbling because they’re lightheaded

Shivering/wrapped in a blanket/hugging a heat pack

Burning up/sweating/taking a cold shower

Drinking tea/hot chocolate

Eating soup

Curling up on the bathroom floor

Drinking ginger ale/eating soda crackers to calm their stomach

Panting because their chest/nose is congested

Puffy red eyes

Painful and persistent cough

Throbbing headache

Swigging cough syrup out of the bottle to get through the day

Stomach cramps

General confusion/inability to focus

Fever dreams/floating in and out of restless sleep

They’re relatively compliant cause they have very little energy

They’re 100% exhausted constantly

Aches and pains throughout the body

feverish characters moaning and thrashing around, soaked in sweat and entangling themselves in their sheets

feverish characters shivering violently in warm rooms

feverish characters delirious and terrified while their caretakers desperately try to calm them down

feverish characters not realizing how sick they are until it’s too late

“Sorry,” their friend’s voice cuts through the haze. “We really need to get your fever down.”

B stares into A’s glassy eyes as they shift lazily around the room, not particularly focusing on anything.

“Where am I?” A muttered as if embarrassed they had to ask.

B’s stomach lurches and drops to the floor. “You’re not feeling well. You’re in bed.”

“…Oh.” A’s eyes slip back shut as B darts across the room for the thermometer.

“Don’t go to sleep quite yet,” B whispers as they place the thermometer under A’s tongue and notice for the first time how intensely they’re shaking. Gently, they brush back A’s hair and remove the cloth, dabbing it all over their neck, cheeks and temples. B is trying not to let on their anxiety as they await the reading.

When a character is sick and he has an arm draped over his eyes while laying down, bonus for the other over his stomach

When they have a migraine and they’re pinching the bridge of their nose trying to stop the pain or rubbing their forehead/ temples or massaging the back of their neck

When a hand is on his upset stomach trying to massage it or something especially lying down

Laying down on a desk with their eyes closed arms either under the head or wrapped around their middle

Rubbing his chest from indigestion/acid reflux/nasty burp with a pained expression

Hand over mouth because they feel nauseous

Hand over top a caring character’s hand on his stomach~
