Someone Else

Today I was out enjoying the loafer weather, and came across the character in an alley. It always concerns me when outside cats are friendly with strangers, but this kitty is obviously well-fed and happy. 

SE photographer @whitethrill in his exceptionally rare loafers from New England Outerwear. This alleyway is behind Antique Taco, where we had lunch yesterday. I have grown tired of the lifestyle-porn marketing used for many heritage goods. We need fewer cosmetic campfires and more trash-strewn back alleys. This is where the clothes are being worn. This is our natural habitat.

We documented Pierre’s journey from launching his own clothing line in the 1970s to opening Shockoe Denim with Anthony in 2012, and finally rebranding as Shockoe Atelier earlier this year—all in our “An American Myth” story.

My namesake Jarvis Old Boys from Shockoe Atelier. I can’t deny I’m proud that they’re the most expensive jeans that Shockoe makes, using Kuroki denim dyed with natural indigo and persimmon.
