Just Casual thinking about how much i love it that draken, the character whos explicitly treated as the emotional & moral backbone of his friend group, is 1 of the few characters whose upbringing is shown, but that upbringing took place in an environment thats like, near universally, across multiple cultures, viewed as detrimental, shameful, predatory, insert negative adjective here (sex work), and yet not only is that environment not treated as 100% Bad by the narrative, but is approached with enough nuance that you can understand how it contributed to draken being the emotional & moral pillar that he is. like he knows firsthand and acknowledges the problems with the sex industry AND hes been able to see all these sex workers as individuals AND hes able to empathize with them bc he knows that they have various reasons for doing sex work, doesnt judge them for it, and knows that their line of work and their capacity for not just good but for simply being regular assed people have nothing to do with each other. he sees what they have to face from society for 1. doing their jobs and 2. whatever got them into sex work in the first place. how could he possibly walk away from growing up under those circumstances as anything but a deeply empathetic person.
