The cinematography on Riverdale is just so unmatched like it genuinely GENUINELY was such a beautifully composed show that was clearly in conversation with film. I often think this is why people reached to a show like Euphoria when they wanted to put Riverdale down, besides having little else in common other than teenagers being in them, they both clearly have a visual style to them - though Riverdale's was often more subtle in some ways

And I think I've seen this said before by others, but this is also part of why Riverdale has such a strong AMV presence among it's fan base. This isn't to say other less stylistics shows don't have AMVs, because they do and there are plenty of good ones that are Big in those spaces, but Riverdale's visual language is incredibly strong and compelling. When I show other people Riverdale AMVs one of the first responses I get is "this is Riverdale?" because the visuals are so at odds with the idea of "shit money grab tv" people are expecting of it. Obviously when a person is making an AMV they bring a lot with the music and editing, but fundamentally the footage is RIVERDALE and Riverdale cares intensely about it's visual message - it HAS to when adapting from such a strongly visual source material.

For all its faults Tumblr has truly ruined all other social media for me because my friends all have Instagram and are all trying to get me on Instagram more but every time I open Instagram there are like fifteen things screaming for my attention and when I get over myself long enough to start scrolling it's like. Where is my chronological dash. Where is the following-only option. Who are these people. Why are there so many videos. Everyone is screaming at me. And then before I know it I'm thirty minutes into scrolling and I haven't seen a single thing that I actually care about. At least on Tumblr when I see stuff I don't care about I know someone I follow has found a new interest.
