Sometimes you gotta take a really vulnerable part of yourself and shove into the hands of one of your ocs so they can deal with it instead
me: iâm gonna write
also me: actually iâm going to spend the next 40 minutes lying on the floor while my brain plays a movie trailer for a novel that doesnât exist and that i will never write. but itâs a really good trailer
Time Travel Fix-It-Fic idea where a Bad Ending happens, but then one of the characters is magically sent to the beginning of the story. it seems like they're the only one who's been sent back in time and they're like "Huh, is this my second chance? I have to try my best to fix everything! I have to do it on my own though, if I tell anyone else that I've lived a future with [Bad Ending], they would never believe me" so they try to push things toward a better outcome while staying secretive about the time travel thing. but it turns out that every character was sent back in time and everyone is trying on their own to fix the situation, but all of them think they're the only one who was sent back in time and that they have to hide it from the others, so they're all being secretive from each other and trying to act normal while fixing everything and they all have different ideas of what "fixing everything" even means and all of them are stupid and it just devolves into everything being worse
like this
Good Traits Gone Bad
⧠Empathy â Emotional Exploitation
Empathy is the heartbeat of connection. It's he ability to feel alongside others, to hold space for pain, joy, fear. But when someone becomes hyper-attuned to emotions, they might begin to use that insight as leverage. What began as compassion shifts into subtle control. They know what others fear, need, or hope for. Then, they exploit it, nudging choices and reactions under the guise of care. The warmth of empathy cools into quiet manipulation, wrapped in smiles and soft voices.
⧠Intuition â Paranoia or Presumption
Intuition is powerful. It guides, warns, and illuminates. But when someone relies too heavily on gut instinct, they may stop seeking context or clarity. They begin to assume intentions, predict betrayals, or treat hunches as fact. What once helped them understand unspoken truths now drives wedges between them and others. Intuition becomes a filter that distorts rather than reveals.
⧠Bravery â Recklessness
True courage inspires others. It faces fear while acknowledging the cost. But courage without wisdom can spiral into recklessness. The brave character begins to leap before looking, refusing help, or seeking danger not to help others but to prove something. Worse, they may sacrifice themselves repeatedly in ways that seem noble but are fueled by guilt, ego, or escapism. What once protected others now isolates or endangers them.
⧠Uniqueness â Alienation or Superiority
Being different is a gift -- a perspective the world needs. But when a characterâs uniqueness becomes their identity, it can harden into alienation or quiet arrogance. They begin to believe no one can truly understand them. Or worse, that others are too ordinary to matter. They stop connecting, start dismissing. Their individuality, once empowering, becomes a lonely throne.
⧠Honesty â Weaponized Truth
Honesty builds trust, clarity, and integrity. But when honesty becomes detached from compassion, it cuts instead of connects. The character may justify harsh words as "just being real" or âtelling it like it is,â ignoring the emotional wreckage left behind. What began as transparency turns into a shield for cruelty. Truth without tact becomes a blade.
⧠Optimism â Denial
Optimism sees hope in hardship, light in shadows. But relentless positivity can blind someone to real danger or silence the pain of others. The character insists everything will work out, even when it wonât. They dismiss warnings, ignore wounds, or refuse to acknowledge their own struggle. What started as radiant hope becomes denial in disguise, robbing others of permission to feel.
⧠Loyalty â Loss of Self
Loyalty is sacred. It anchors trust and sustains love. But loyalty without discernment can turn into self-erasure. A character might defend the wrong people, tolerate mistreatment, or silence their conscience -- all in the name of loyalty. They stay, even when it hurts. They follow, even when it breaks them. What began as devotion becomes a chain.
⧠Humanity â Overwhelm or Emotional Collapse
To be deeply human is to feel joy, rage, sorrow, wonder -- all fully. But a character might become so open to the world's weight that they drown in it. They struggle to regulate emotions, internalizing every injustice or heartache. Their humanity is profound, but it becomes unsustainable. Their openness turns into fragility, and their emotional world consumes them.
⧠Altruism â Disintegration of Boundaries
The altruist gives freely, loves fiercely, and seeks nothing in return. But when they give too much without limits, they fade from themselves. They neglect rest, silence their needs, and begin to believe that self-worth is earned only through sacrifice. Eventually, others begin to rely on them, but never truly see them. Their selflessness becomes a slow disappearance.

"If my book is not perfect then-"
Then what? People will actually discuss it? fill your plotholes with fanfiction and headcanons?
People dont care about perfection. perfection is boring. if your story is perfect people will forget about it. its how we are wired. we remember the strange, the weird and all things left open.
Perfection isnt the goal, interesting is
The most human thing a character can do is contradict themselves.
The cynic who still carries a childhood stuffed animal.
The liar who craves honesty.
The overthinker who makes reckless decisions.
The heartbreaker who believes in soulmates.
The pacifist who holds lifelong grudges.
The tough guy who cries during old movies.
The thrill-seeker who's terrified of commitment.
The grump whoâs unfailingly polite to waitstaff.
People arenât consistent. Your characters shouldnât be either.
no you have to contribute to your fandom if you don't want it to die. most fandoms die because people say 'it's so sad watching the fandom die when the hype dies' without doing anything about it. I'm not saying you have to push out 100k word slow-burn fic, I'm not saying you have to make fan art or gif sets or edits or anything. I'm just saying we as a community should contribute to our fandom if we don't want it to die, and by contributing, I'm talking about giving kudos, commenting on your favorite fics, reblogging your favorite art and just talking about your favorite characters. that's enough to keep a fandom alive. that's the most effective way to keep a fandom alive in my humble opinion.
fandoms die because people stop talking about it, fandoms die because people stop engaging with fan content once the hype is gone. what I'm saying is, mainstream media's hype may be gone, but our fandom can stay alive and thriving if us as a community don't let it die.

10 Traits That Make a Character Secretly Dangerous
âĽÂ Disarming Humor. Theyâre the life of the party. Everyoneâs laughing. No oneâs noticing how much they arenâtsaying.
âĽÂ Laser-Sharp Observation. They see everything. Whoâs nervous. Whoâs lying. Who would be easiest to break. And they donât miss.
âĽÂ Unsettling Calm. Even in chaos, they stay still. Smiling. Thinking. Calculating.
âĽÂ Weaponized Empathy. They know how to make people trust them. Because they know exactly what people want to hear.
âĽÂ Compartmentalization. They can do something brutal, then eat lunch like nothing happened.
âĽÂ Controlling Niceness. The kind of kindness thatâs sharp-edged. You feel guilty for not loving them.
âĽÂ Mirroring Behavior. They become whatever the person in front of them needs. It's not flattery. Itâs survivalâor manipulation.
âĽÂ Selective Vulnerability. They know how to spill just enough pain to make you drop your guard.
âĽÂ History of âBad Luckâ. Ex-friends, ex-lovers, ex-colleagues⌠they all left under âunfortunateâ circumstances. But the pattern says otherwise.
âĽÂ Unshakeable Confidence in Their Morality. They donât think theyâre the villain. That makes them scarier.

Habits That Reveal Deep Character
(A.K.A. the quiet stuff that says everything without screaming it)
âĽÂ The âI Always Sit Facing the Exitâ Quirk They donât talk about their childhood much, but they always know where the exits are. Every restaurant. Every train. Trauma has muscle memory. Your job is to notice what itâs saying without needing a monologue about it.
âĽÂ The âI Canât Sleep Until I Hear You Lock the Doorâ Habit It's not controlling. It's care shaped like paranoia. They say âGoodnightâ like itâs casual, but theyâre counting the clicks of the lock like a lullaby. Let that show more than âI love you.â
âĽÂ The âI Keep Everything Youâve Ever Given Meâ Thing Not just gifts. Receipts with your doodles. The crumpled note you wrote when you were mad. Every bit of you that felt real. Itâs borderline hoarder behavior, but also? Itâs devotion.
âĽÂ The âI Cook When Iâm Sadâ Pattern Their worldâs falling apart, but suddenly everyone has banana bread. Itâs not about foodâitâs about control, about creating something warm when everything else is cold. And they wonât say it out loud, but they're asking, âWill you stay?â
âĽÂ The âI Practice Conversations in the Mirrorâ Secret Before big moments, hard talks, or just answering the phone. They're rehearsing being okay. They're trying to be the version of themselves people expect. Thatâs not weaknessâitâs survival wrapped in performance art.
âĽÂ The âI Fix Other Peopleâs Problems to Ignore My Ownâ Reflex Everyone calls them âstrong,â but no one notices how fast they redirect. âHow are you doing though?â they ask, one heartbeat after breaking down. Let your reader see how exhaustion wears a smile.
âĽÂ The âI Never Miss A Birthdayâ Rule Even for people who forgot theirs. Even for exes. Itâs not about being rememberedâitâs about being someone who remembers. Thatâs character.
âĽÂ The âI Clean When I Feel Powerlessâ Mechanism That sparkling sink? Not about hygiene. Thatâs grief control. Thatâs despair in a Clorox wipe. Let it speak volumes in the silence of a spotless room.
âĽÂ The âI Pretend I Donât Need Helpâ Lie They say, âIâm fineâ like itâs a full stop. But their hands shake when they think no oneâs looking. Let your other characters notice. Let someone care, even when they donât ask for it.
âĽÂ The âI Watch People When Theyâre Not Watching Meâ Curiosity Not in a creepy way. In a poetâs way. In a âwho are you when no oneâs clappingâ way. They love the in-between moments: laughter in elevators, fidgeting before speeches. That's who they areâobservers, not performers.
Miscommunication Prompts
A character avoids eye contact because theyâre nervous, making the other believe theyâre hiding something.
A character mistakes someoneâs distraction for boredom, assuming theyâre not interesting enough.
A character misinterprets kindness as pity, making them defensive.
A character uses a phrase that has multiple interpretations, and the listener takes it in the worst possible way. (âI took care of him.â âYou WHAT?â)
A character pulls a harmless prank that spirals out of control until itâs too late to take it back.
The audience knows that two characters are talking about completely different things, but neither of them realises it (dramatic irony).
A character gives a vague or hesitant response out of nervousness, and the other person takes it as rejection.
A text or letter meant for one person gets sent to the absolute worst possible recipient.
A character asks another to do something simple, but their interpretation is wildly different.
Two characters remember an event completely differently, leading to an argument where both are convinced theyâre right, but what actually happened is something neither of them recall correctly.
Someone shrinks away from a touch due to past trauma, but the other person assumes it means rejection.

Angsty Prompts
(feel free to use, tag me when yall write!!! mwah xoxo)
"You're okay, look at me--yes, my love, you're okay. I'm here now."
tight hugs, their hands cradling you and your heart close to theirs.
Their heart shattering with every ragged breath u take and every sob that escapes your lips
"Do u know.. it's incredibly brave of you to.." They pause, gently rubbing the tears stains off your cheeks, "Be vulnerable with me? It's my honor, to protect you, and be a safe place for you."
being hospitalized, and waking up to find them curled at the foot of your bed, holding onto ur hand.
Voice breaking as they whisper, their hand tightening around yours, "I-I thought I lost you.."
pressing your lips their forehead, as they break apart in your arms, clinging onto you. eyes full of pain, tears and rare vulnerability that bares open their entire being to you
^ caressing their face, unable to know what to say or do but whispering, "Let me hold you through this all. It's okay to cry, my love.." and they completely shatter.
Them curling up into ur chest, needing comfort, security and strength
"I'm so sorry--" "No, no, no. You did ur best, my soul, i---i am the one sorry."
Whatâs something important youâve learnt that you wonât ever forget?
Walk with empathy and act with kindness. Do no harm.
However -
Take no shit.
Beg no man pardon.
Forget nothing.
