I was really surprised to see the level of vehemence that person had about the topic, so now I'm wondering if it's a hotly contested topic in the FFXIV fandom ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As in, lots of shows and stuff can have a "nonbinary" character who never gets to have their gender explored or be dysphoric or be EXPLICITLY nonbinary outside of a couple blink and you'll miss it uses of they/them pronouns, so its easy for viewers to just assume theyre a girl or boy and move on. And I really felt like this treatment was cus you cant show a transgender boy or a transgender girl EXPLICITLY without being frank about how they were assigned one gender and decided they were a different one, like just the ACT of transition (social or medical) is too much for cis people to stomach being shown. I dont want half-assed nonbinary rep as one single character in a whole cast of cis people.
