how to word this without sounding full of myself... um I still get caught off guard by people emphasizing how nice I am, it happens occasionally in discord servers and also happened a lot when I played among us in 2020, not cus I wasn't being nice I just was surprised that my niceness was apparently not the norm for these people when all I do is try to be attentive and think of how I would have wanted to be helped in their shoes...

like, in among us when ppl were new to the game and got imposter for the first time, obvs they would be nervous but i'd always reassure them that its ok to mess up their first time and to keep at it and encouraging them, and well I just... wouldn't say mean things to people. And also if I have the energy to spare, i'll definitely go outta my way to answer a question or listen to someone or help them with a problem.

Do you think what people think of as "being nice" is usually just neutral or non-hostile behaviors? Because I think the issue is people by default view interactions they have with others as being inherently intrusive, or at least easy to slide into being bothersome... like, keep things neutral and if you really need something, you have to grovel and say sorry for being a burden and emphasize how much the other person TOTALLY isn't obligated to help. Maybe people aren't used to others just... taking initiative of helping or being considerate without being asked. I DEFINITELY know I'm not used to it.

I think part of it is cus I wasn't a very good listener during my kittenhood since I was neglected and starved for attention, and it makes me sad for others who probably felt that way too... so I wanna make up for it

You literally get driven insane when you really really love something but like, at least 40-60% of the people around you hate it. And the thing is, nothing on earth is immune to this, you just have to hope your friend group doesnt happen to hate the niche indie series or mega popular game or mediocre children's book series you get into.
