as much as we all talk about how dean should have been a mechanic, i don’t think we acknowledge enough how much dean wants to work a job where he’s part of a team

Actually I'm not done thinking about Jack and Mary parallels, like they're both wolves in sheep's clothing imo, Jack with his persona of innocence that he uses because the rage and hunger and ruthless drive under the surface scares people, Jack who even when he tries to fit in still feels a little off, who doesn't want to give up the power that makes people afraid because he doesn't want to be weak. And Mary, who wanted so bad to be normal, who tried so hard to be the perfect girlfriend and then wife and mother, who could never shake that itch to hunt, to roam, always restless beneath a curated smile, eyes too sharp, too evaluative, always mapping escape routes even while playing house. It's important to me that both of their masks of normal aren't quite right, they never really knew what normal was supposed to be, and people can sense that, are uneasy around them and they don't know why. It's also important that both of them slip because they don't actually like being the sheep, they like being the wolf, they like being strong and powerful and dangerous, they like winning, but they know it makes people uncomfortable so they try to ride the line between the two and it's exhausting and nobody really gets it, and they can't be their whole selves they can only be tolerated in pieces

jack kline is so sick to me because it's like yeah you're literally the most powerful being on the planet but that means jack shit when your family abuses you. the powers you hold are actually just another way for you to fuck up, be demonised, be hurt, and believe it all in your core. and the more you are terrified the more out of control it gets. let's turn the ultimate power fantasy on its head.
