How do people feel about the Digimon Adventure 2020 reboot? Mainly wondering to see how blasphemous it is that I’m really enjoying it.
My take:
Unless you're deep into the original japanese, you probably won't notice how different some of the characters are.
The series tries (ineffectively, imo) to ride the edge of "big plot" and "episodic" and I can't tell if it ever resolves the lore it teases repeatedly because I got annoyed and gave up way before.
The opening episode alone is extremely confusing in that regard.

some thinking
can i just say that ppl are really showing their gender essentialism when they refer to ships involving the male-voiced crewmates as “yaoi” and the female-actor-voiced crewmates as “yuri” and the cross-ones as “het.” all the crewmates are nonbinary. all the characters are the same gender. and an amab they/them person is the same gender as an afab they/them person regardless of their voices.
