the funny thing about the whole "no one wants to work" trend is that this is, hypothetically, how wages are supposed to go up naturally under capitalism. When wages are too low, workers refuse to work, so businesses raise their wages. The problem is that american companies are so used to paying people scraps and so far removed from the idea of workers having any kind of power or demanding some degree of dignity that they're just completely dumbfounded by this. When everyone refuses to work, their first instinct isn't "oh, our wages are too low" it's to post signs complaining about kids these days and begging people to pwease pwease come back to work I pwomise you won't get the cowonaviwus whiwe being yewwed at by a woman who compwains they made hew food wrong and demands a comped dessewt befowe leaving you a $2 tip
Oh American corporations aren't dumbfounded or confused about whats going on.
They know damn well whats happening and at the moment they're purposefully putting the blame on the worker, par the course.
By saying "Nobody wants to work because of stimulus checks and unemployment" the corporations are setting a narrative that benefits them from 2 courses.
The first is blaming lazy blue collar workers and using society, i.e. people who have never worked blue collar jobs for an extended period of time, to shame these people into "pulling themselves up by their boot straps".
And the second course is placing blame on the government. Claiming its the governments fault the economy and job market are tanking. By making this statement they're essentially telling people the current representatives are causing more problems then fixing them in an effort to get these representatives voted out come next election.
And of course certain people lack the intelligence to ask simple questions such as "whats considered a living wage in my state?", "How much is unemployment being given to people?", " What is the common wage being paid to blue collar workers? Is there a variety of wages being offered or have these companies contrived to keep wages low through corporate cooperation?"
And most importantly nobody stops to ask " why is this company paying LESS then unemployment?" Rather falling into the familiar stereotype of government paying out lavish amounts of money to "welfare queens".
Companies know exactly what they're doing and they are so proud of themselves for it.
