Drinking Age //Cameron Winter Album: Heavy Metal "This record completely crept up on me this year. It’s one of those albums that really didn’t click for me on the first listen, but has just kept popping up in my subconscious, with specific lyrics, melodies, or instrumental moments nestling their way into my brain.

Cameron Winter, frontman of Geese, completely took over the internet music nerd scene this year, and while this record came out late 2024, the majority of its acclaim came from this year. And in my opinion, that acclaim is more than deserved.

Cameron has not only released the most quotable and memorable lyrics of the year with this album, but also the most uniquely beautiful vocals I’ve heard this year. With his warbly vocal delivery, his unreal vocal range, and clear talent and taste, he knows how to perfectly walk the line of imperfection and technical ability. Clearly influenced by the likes of Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and Nick Drake, Cameron has carved out his own supremely unique sound and style with this album.

The songwriting, unlike most Geese songs, are more stream of consciousness and unfiltered. As Cameron Winter himself put it, these songs are more “lyrically-focused than the songs on a Geese record”, which results in more stripped back instrumentation, often opting for piano balladry, minimal vocal harmonies, muted drum beats, and an overall more DIY feel to the production."

A new photobook capturing Berlin’s club scene and community has just been published.

Berlin Night After Glow is the work of photographer Chris Noltekuhlmann and features more than 200 “intimate” portraits of the city’s clubbers, taken over the space of two and a half years. Many of the photos were taken shortly after the subjects had left clubs.

The Berlin-by-LA artist spent years photographing over 350 Berlin partygoers in his studio - a long-term project aimed at capturing intimate portraits of the city’s club community from KitKat to Berghain.

The Art of Aaron Blaise ❤︎ The snow bear acts as a tangible projection of the protagonist's inner desire for affection, reflecting the mind's ability to self-soothe in the absence of external stimuli.

Blaise has spoken about how this deeply personal project was informed by the devastating loss of his wife in 2007. The film's core can be viewed through the lens of sublimation—channeling unresolvable grief, loneliness, and the desire to be reunited with a loved one into a beautiful, creative outlet.

The polar bear creates a likeness of itself, symbolizing the Freudian concept of primary narcissism and the search for an identical, mirroring relationship. It is an exploration of unconditional love where the protagonist attempts to provide the nurture it lacks from the hostile, lonely environment.

Take a nice breather; enjoy something nice that is happening. It respects the rhythms of life, the natural succession of phases of everything. Find a good reason to smile, there are many, there are many to cry.
