This is Nakey, the sweetest lil corn snake!
This piece was incredibly challenging, but super rewarding as well! The scales shine differently as you move the hoop and they catch the light, creating shifting depth. I’ll upload another post with a vid showing that off cause it’s one of my favorite things about this, and the reason I chose to embroider each individual scale.
Image ID: A hand embroidered corn snake sits on an off-white muslin fabric inside an embroidery hoop. The snake has a pattern of red, orange and brown patches, bordered in dark brown. He is arranged in loops, one loop shows off his underbelly which is cream spotted with dark patches. He also has his tongue sticking out.
It’s so beautiful! How did you get that texture for the scales? It looks like secondary stitch over your base layer, though I can’t quite tell what it is the effect is breathtaking! Wonderful work!
Thankyou! The scales are all done by satin stitch, that gives the uniform look to each of them so they stand out from their siblings. Sometimes i bordered the scales with single lines of threads, (or closer to the head more satin stitches) sometimes it was to nix the fabric colour coming through, sometimes it was to create highlights or shadows. But the rest of the time i let the satin stitch speak for itself!

The top comment:
As of this moment this legislation is in front of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transport. I have taken the liberty of compiling a list of all the names and phone numbers of every Senator on that committee, and I've put the names of Senators up for re-election in 2026 in bold.
I will note that this is the third time this legislation has been introduced. In 2022 it ended up dying in Committee when introduced in the Senate and the same happened when it was introduced to the House of Representatives in 2023. Obviously we should all be concerned and take action, but don't go into full blown panic unless it exits committee. At that point I intend to have a list ready of all 100 Senators stating which ones are up for re-election and are considered at risk of losing seats.
Also my advice for calls:
- When talking with Republicans play up the fact that this would force Elon to implement age verification systems on X (yes do call it X during the call). Elon's been threatening to primary Republicans who stand in his way so there's fear of him. Also play up concerns about "Liberals" doxxing people or Chinese hackers.
- When talking with Democrats, play up the connections to Project 2025 and suggest voters will not be happy to see Democrats siding with it.

Ladybird spider (Eresus kollari)
Chonk spider
Actually that ‘s a female ladybird spider! Ladybird spiders have some pretty extreme sexual dimorphism that makes them very easy to differentiate. This is the male:
See why they’re called ladybird spiders?
But either way I’m sure she will happily accept your invite for cocoa!
What the fuck those things are real I thought it was just a cartoon
I thought the same thing when I moved to Arizona
Little velociraptor
Lads
ok but roadrunners are so cool, I can seldom think of a bird more velociraptor-like
more people need to know they’re real because look at this, this is some real walking with dinosaurs shit
they have powerful legs allowing them to run up to 20mph and leap to impressive heights with ease
they are extremely swift and fearless, quick enough to take down a sizable rattlesnake and other large prey animals like lizards and mice
they have several unique adaptations to thermoregulate, such as the dark patch of feathers on their back which acts as a solar panel to absorb heat, or its crest that either releases or absorbs heat by exposing its skin
they have these long, stiff tailfeathers that they use as a counterbalance when running, very reminiscent of the rod-like tail of a dromaeosaur
and they are capable of bursts of flight/gliding with incredibly beautiful plumage
I’m genuinely shocked how many people think they’re made up, they are real and they are AWESOME
fucking goldfish tiktok made me cry bro
humans be like “is anyone going to nurse this animal back to health?” and not wait for an answer
A summary of everything repeated in the notes:
The black color is natural for a black moor goldfish, but they do often change color as they age, sometimes in response to tank conditions. In this case, the vibrancy of the color is more important to note than the color itself. The scales begin very dull and then as Monstro recovers they become vivid.
Monstro is probably suffering from either chemical burns, dropsy, or both. Fish can probably become depressed in a fish way, but it is not the reason he stopped swimming.
Dropsy is an infection of the swim bladder which helps fish float. The water changes help reduce the inflammation and aquarium salt makes it harder for bacteria to grow in the wounds while he fights off the infection.
The chemical burns are probably from living in a too-small or badly filtered tank. Goldfish produce a lot of waste including ammonia, which in large amounts can cause the burns. The water changes are again helping reduce the ammonia level and keeps the water clean while he's recovering, like how for humans with chemical burns we flood with saline.
Because of the amount of waste they produce, goldfish need 10-20 gal each absolute minimum, but still think of that as living in a bathroom as a human. Even this setup may need to grow a bit larger as monstro and it's friends age
Goldfish can live 20/30 years, humans just are Extremely Bad at caring for fish the way we do other pets. Most goldfish need a whole pond and friends to be happy. The goldfish bowl was a temporary viewing object in China to show off the fish to guests in their rooms, and was misunderstood by European visitors to be how the fish were kept all the time.
Fish (and most cold blooded animals and birds) are exempt from most animal abuse protections and retail pet stores are almost fully unregulated in their treatment of animals. Woo!
Idk support well cared for animals including fish and while the bigger the tank the better, don't like.... Try to release your fish or any other animal into the wild. In this case, surrendering Monstro to the pet store was probably the best thing the former owner could've done upon realizing they didn't know how to care for them .

#that is the most venomous native lizard in north america
so i was compelled to look that up and
A) the most venomous lizard in north america is called the Gila Monster
B) I’m no expert obviously but that boy there sure looks like a Gila Monster
C) from the Gila Monster wikipedia article, here is the funniest doctor that ever lived:
"I have never been called to attend a case of Gila monster bite, and I don't want to be. I think a man who is fool enough to get bitten by a Gila monster ought to die. The creature is so sluggish and slow of movement that the victim of its bite is compelled to help largely in order to get bitten."

Good morning I drew a sleepy cat
APRIL FOOLS THEY ARE A SNAKE WISHING YOU A NICE DAY !!!
A girl I met in school is giving me a whole bunch of snails from a project she was doing and asked if I could make her one of my snail drawings and of COURSE I said yes she’s giving me like 15 snails
I GOT THE SNAILS
Update:
I’m going to be a mother
Update:
I’m a mother :,)
I feel I should update you all on how big they’ve gotten
9 months later and they’ve grown more! I honestly didn’t expect their growth to be so slow (haha) and constant, they’re smaller than the other snails still (even the biggest one tho not by much) so I’m assuming they’re still growing :o
Hehehehehe,
the babies had babies :)
