when someone says i'm not a yearner but i literally made my childhood best friend in elden ring just so that it could feel like we were playing together again </3
can you imagine a pokemon trainer yuu? like i may not have magical powers but these creatures i call my friends sure do and they'll straight up electrocute you if you try something.
also grim is kinda like a pokemon lowkeyâŚthe firebreathing version of meowth </3
but like, imagine having a charizard or some other dragon type pokemon and the people in diasomnia are like ??? you can command a dragon to fight for you??
or with riddle's overblot, he can collar them all he wants but since their power is more innate/biological and not magic it has no effect
and octavinelle with the water-types...

just some shenanigans in the mansion :)
The mansion had a real problem.
Recently, there'd been a string of mysterious happenings going on in the manor. Someone was breaking into other people's rooms and cutting their hair in the middle of the night while they slept.
Seemed trivial enough. Strange things were always happening at the mansion, and hair wasn't that important, right?.
Well, you were wrong.

was listening to the song by Weezer and it lwk reminds me of toby for some reason, so here we are
"Baby, please? Can we talk?" Toby stood outside your door, pleading with you to let him in. He'd been out there for the past twenty minutes and wouldn't leave, no matter how many times you told him to. You'd even had to pause the show you were watching because of his antics.

Unexpected Company
Crucible knight x reader
was playing elden ring and had an idea
You dashed through the crumbling building, narrowly avoiding a flying blade that whizzed past your ear. Damn beastmen. It's not like you wanted to fight them. You'd be perfectly content to just ignore them and continue on your way. But no. They just had to be aggressive. In the beginning it was fineâyou felled the first few beastmen you happened upon and that was that. Or so you thought. Now there was a whole horde of them that seemingly spawned in from nowhere, and you simply didn't have the ability to fight all of them at once.
The Ghostwriter (deuce)
Just something I started a few months ago and finally got around to finishing. There's a bit of swearing at the end, so fair warning if that bothers youâit's not too bad though. Oh, there's also a demon-like entity, idk. Reader isn't stated to be Yuu.
Essentially: Deuce severely misinterprets the advice Professor Trein gives him.
Stressed. If there was one word to describe Deuce Spade right now, it was stressed. School had been picking up recently in preparation for the upcomings exams and projects that would be given out to students in their classes, and while he normally took those challenges head onâŚhe was struggling. One of the upcoming assignments in Professor Trein's class was going to be a five page essay. Okay, so it's a pain in the ass, no biggie. Plenty of essays had been given out over the course of the year alreadyâŚexcept there was a catch to this one. It had to be at least five pages long and completed within one week, and no one knew what the prompt for the essay was until the week it was assigned. So no prep time compared to the normal essays that were assigned. This didn't bode well for Deuce at all. Hence, why he was here, fiddling with his sleeve as he waited outside of Trein's classroom to meet with him.
He was going to need all the help he could get.
Moonlit Waltz (malleus)
It was a calm night. The moon floated in the sky above, bathing the grassy fields in various shades of gray and blue. For once, the world seemed to be completely at peace. No raucous shouts from folk in the villages, no excessive barking or whinnying of horses, everything was silent. Only the faint whispers of the wind blowing through the grass was audible as you waited. Any moment nowâŚ
Green fireflies sparked into existence, the first indicator of your beloved's presence as Malleus materialized next to you, a soft smile etched upon his lips.
"Hello, Darling," he greeted, gently taking your hand in his and tugging you into his chest.
You giggled, melting into his warm embrace and sighing contentedly. "Darling? Now where did you get that from?" It was certainly different from the usual "Beloved" or "Child of Man" that he usually liked to call you.
He hummed quietly, nuzzling his head against your own. "I read it in a book." One of his hands drifted down and rested lightly against your waist, while the other remained intertwined with yours, holding you close.
"Oh, you did, did you?" You teased, amusement sparking in your eyes.
"Yes, the one you gave me when you last visited, with Mr. Darcy and the lady, Elizabeth Bennet. The word made me think of the stars, which in turn reminded me of you." He took a step back, starting a slow waltz between the two of you as he carefully guided you along with his movements.Â
"Well, I fear the stars and I aren't really comparable." The ground began to fall away with each step as you danced with him. Those little blinking lights that always seemed to surround your lover encompassed the two of you in swirling eddies, engaging in a dance of their own.
"Of course not," he agreed, gracefully twirling you around. "You are far more beautiful."

Sick of School
Characters: Riddle, Ace, Deuce, Malleus
Just how a few of them might react to a reader (implied Yuu) who doesn't try in school but is actually really smart. going off of how I'm sick of school and probably wouldn't try hard if I was transported into Twist (like I did NOT bust my ass for years just to restart at a school in a different world ಠ_ಠ) I'd rather just go out and have fun like others do for once
It talks?
had an idea about Silver and his sword
"Checkmate."
"What?!" Sebek's voice rang out in indignation. "You cheated!"
Silver sighed. "No, I didn't. Look, your king has nowhere to go. I win."
"This can't be right. I demand a rematch! Immediately!" He prompted, unable to accept the fact that he lost fair and square.
"âŚThis is already our third match today, I think we should have a rematch tomorrow." Silver couldn't go through with another game of chess today. He'd already fallen asleep numerous times during the other ones. In fact, during the last one he was actually beginning to debate losing on purpose, just so that it would end. The only reason he didn't was because of his competitive streak.
Sebek's frown deepened. "Hmph, it's just because you'd lose anyways."Â
Silver opened his mouth to speak, "You've already lost three times in a row, loser-boy. You really wanna make it a fourthâ?" A voice emanated from where he was sittting across from Sebek before being cut off abruptly.
"WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY? I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW THATâ"
"That your chess playing is just as lousy as your swordsmanship?" The snarky voice cut him off again.
"SILVER. HOW DARE YOU QUESTION MY SKILLS? I CHALLENGE YOU TO A DUEL, HERE AND NOW, THEN WE'LL SEE JUST WHOSE SKILLS ARE 'LOUSY'!" Sebek's voice thundered through the quiet common room. Thank the sevens it was empty.
Silver tried speaking again, "Sebek, that wasn'tâ"
"DRAW YOUR SWORD AND FACE ME!"
Silver sighed again. He really didn't want to do this right now, but it didn't seem like he was going to get a word in otherwise. "Fine." He got to his feet, drawing his sword and facing Sebek, the game of chess laying forgotten on the table next to them. The air crackled with tension as the two began circling each other around the small table, each waiting for the other to make the first move.
"Well are you two sissies gonna start any time today?"
Sebek froze. "WHO'S THERE?" The room was still empty as far as he could see, Silver was the only other person aside from him.
"'Who's there?'" the voice mocked, "Your brain must be as small as your voice is loud."
Silver didn't think he'd ever seen Sebek look so offended since that one time a first-year had said Malleus was intimidating. "EXCUSE ME?! I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW I'M ONE OF THE KNIGHTS OF THE MOST DISTINGUISHED LORDâ"
"You're excused." The voice stated plainly.
"Alright," Silver spoke, trying to keep things from escalating. "That's enough. Both of you settle down."
"SETTLE DOWN? AFTER THE INSULTS AND LIES THIS MISCREANT HAS BEEN SPOUTING?"
"Sebek," Silver said pointedly. "Calm yourself. There isn't anyone else here. The one who's been speaking is my sword."
Sebek paused, processing the information "âŚWhat?"
"My sword," Silver continued. "I believe it was hit by a spell sometime during class yesterday. I brought it to Professor Trein and he said the effects should wear off in a week. It's the one who's been insulting you."
"'It'? I have a name, you know," the voice came again, sounding somewhat miffed. "And I prefer the term 'telling the truth', it's his own fault if it's insulting."
"Why you littleâ"
"Leave it, Sebek."
For a moment, it looked like Sebek was going to comply with Silver's wordsâŚuntil he opened his mouth again. "Well, if your sword has indeed been enchanted then it must be thrown away at once!"
"What?" Silver asked, surprised.
"A FOLLOWER OF THE NOBLE AND MAGNANIMOUS MALLEUS DRACONIA SHOULD NOT TARNISH HIS IMAGE BY CARRYING AROUND SUCH AN ISOLENT ARMAMENT!"
"I can't just throw it away, it was a gift from Fatherâ"
"I DEMAND THAT YOU RELINQUISH YOUR WEAPON AT ONCE, SILVER!" Sebek stated, advancing towards his fellow guardsman.
Silver slowly backed away, nearly tripping on a book someone left lying on the floor. "No. I will not hand over my sword to you."
"You really think you can come get me?" The sword taunted. "You're much too slow!"
That did it. With a cry, Sebek lunged forward, attempting to snag the sword out of Silver's grip only to be met with air as Silver darted out of the way. The two began running all around the room, knocking over furniture and causing chaos. Sebek continued shouting at Silver to give up his sword and how it was unbecoming and unprofessional to be using enchanted equipment in such a way. The sword thought this was all very funny and continued to taunt Sebek. Silver, for his part, evaded Sebek's repeated attempts to take away his blade, running circles around the room as his friend chased him.
"I already said you can't take Johnny!"
"YOU NAMED IT JOHNNY?!"
A vase shattered as it fell to the floor, the sound lost in the mayhem occuring in the common room. High above, a figure floated in the air, giggling to himself. "Ah, such liveliness~ a true testament to the joys of youth." Crimson eyes surveyed the pandemonium happening down below. "I think I outdid myself with this one." A bat squeaked in agreement.

there's too many angst ideas about malleus and his human partner dying way before him. what if they came back as a ghost. it's widely accepted that ghosts come back bc of unfinished business right? well maybe they're not done loving malleus and that's their unfinished business. or maybe they got stuck and can't go to the "other side". it could also be something else entirely, who knows? if it's yuu, maybe their soul can't move on bc it's a different world or smth like that.
i just think it would be interesting to read about </3Â plus i cant keep doing all these pure angst fics where's the comfort??
Feathers and Freedom (malleus x reader), part 5
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5
"Malleus!" You practically tackled the poor unsuspecting fae's back, arms wrapped around his neck and sending the two of you stumbling forward through the green foliage.
"MCâ?"
"Hi! You miss me?"
It was one of the days you had off, so you'd returned back home to visit. After spending some time with your family, you'd snuck into The Moors with the help of a couple of the smaller faeries, who ran off giggling after leading you to Malleus. Malleus for his part, turned to face you, an amused smile playing at his lips.Â
"More than you know," he answered. His eyes roamed over your figure, taking you in. It had been a while since you'd last seen each other after all. He paused when he saw your arm, gaze narrowing. "You are hurt."
"Eh, it's not that bad. 'Tis but a scratch!" You laughed it off, though Malleus didn't seem to be nearly as amused.
"That seems to be a bit more than 'a scratch', Child of Man."
"WellâŚit's really not that bad. Look, it's all wrapped up and should be healed in no time."
His frown deepened. "What happened? The other humans didn't harm you, did they?" Malleus wouldn't be pleased if he found out that the humans at the castle had hurt his Child of Man.Â
"Oh, no. It was a horse."
Malleus blinked. "AâŚhorse?"
"Mhm, I was on my way back from the castle gardens one morning and got trampled by an evil horse in one of the courtyards." You related the story animatedly. "You know, I normally like horses but I think this one really was just pure malevolence. It even ate the carrots I picked after it ran me over!"
"I see." He took the information in quietly, before speaking again. "Even so, I do not like it. Are all of the horses allowed to run rampant with no regard for people's safety?"
"No, of course not. They're usually well-handled and cared for. Chad just decided to break loose and cause havoc apparently."
"Chad?"
"The horse. His full name is Chadwick, but I don't like him and i hate the name Chad, so Chad it is."
"You never cease to amuse me, Child of Man." He pulled you intoa warm embrace as he spoke, resting his head atop of yours. "But, you are not allowed to get hurt again. Understand?"
"It's not like I intentionally got hurt, you know. I also would've preferred not breaking my arm," you grumbled, though you settled into his arms without complaint. It was nice to be held again, especially by him.
"Promise me." Malleus clearly didn't care whether it had been intentional or not, he was going to make you agree with him either way.
"Fine, I promise. No more getting run over by evil horses," you sighed.
"No more getting hurt," he corrected.
"Same thing."
He sighed heavily. "Always so troublesome."
"Only for you."
***
The next couple of years flew by in a similar fashion, and you did your best to stay true to your promise to Malleus and not get hurtâthough a few small accidents here and there seemed to be unavoidable. Much of your time was spent at the castle working, though you were almost always able to take a day or two off from work and visit home again. The Queen was quite lenient with your time off, and the two of you became good friends over the years. The days without work were always your favorite though. You got to see your grandpa and sister, as well as Malleus. Yet as time passed, the tension between the human kingdom and The Moors grew even greater.Â
The king had become consumed by his hatred for the magical folk living in The Moors, and it manifested in the form of violent skirmishes along the border. Guards were posted in almost all of the towns and villages, including yours. It made seeing Malleus difficult; no one was allowed to leave the village without valid reason and going to The Moors was strictly forbidden. Under no circumstances were people allowed to even venture near the area. Even just the process of going through the new security to get home to visit your grandpa and sister had become a headache.
None of that stopped you from seeing Malleus though your visits became less frequent. You would sneak out of the village to visit him at night when it was possible. The guards didn't know all the ins and outs of the village like the people who grew up there. Plus, they were so drunk on the power they held over the peopleâand alcohol from the local tavernâthat they did a pretty shit job whenever it came to doing something more than just antagonizing the locals. Most of their time was spent leering at innocent passersby and toying with people trying to get in or out of the village. No one had any real respect for them.
The real problems however, had just started to begin. Not too long ago, the king had led a large group of cavalry against the fae folk, and was injured whilst also suffering a humiliating loss. It was the greatest conflict yet.
***
The ground rumbled and shook under the pounding of the horses' hooves, dust billowing into the air behind them as the soldiers rode forth, following their king. The army stopped as they neared the edge of the great forest, watching the trees for any sign of movement within. The king turned to face his men and began to speak.
"There they are!" He bellowed. "The mysterious Moors, where no one dares to venture for fear of the magical creatures that lurk withinâwell I say, CRUSH THEM!"
His soldiers roared in agreement, their weapons raised high in the air. They hungered for the battle to come and the blood that would be spilled.
Their cries were silenced by the sound of wings. Powerful gusts of wind whipped through the air as Malleus descended, landing before themâguarding The Moors. He appraised the army in front of him, taking in the number of soldiers and their weapons.
"GO NO FARTHER!" His voice thundered through the still silence between them. A warning. While he might not be inherently violent, Malleus would not stand by while his home and people were threatened.
The king sat on his horse, looking on wearily before responding. "A king does not take orders from a winged elf." A round of laughter rang out from the soldiers behind him, mocking the fae that stood in front of them.Â
"You are no king to me." Malleus spat.
The king paused, processing what he said before speaking over his shoulder. "Bring me his head."
The men drew their weapons, obeying the king's order and beginning their advance towards The Moors. Malleus watched silently as they got closer before speaking again, this time it wasn't directed towards the humans.
"Arise and stand with me!"
The ground shook and vibrated with some unknown force, throwing off the balance of a few of the soldiers. None of them knew what was coming. Soon, towering figures erupted from the earth around the fae, the tree-like entities made for imposing adversaries as they loomed over the humans. More figures appeared from within the trees, riding on armored boars and armed with spears. As they did, a large dragon burst forth from the ground, roaring loudly. The sound was the resounding catalyst and the two sides charged towards each other.
As the battle began, it became overwhelmingly evident that the humans were outclassed by the tree warriors. There wasn't much they could do to fight back against enemies that were that much larger than them and in such numbers. Especially with Malleus joining the fray. He swept through their ranks, knocking the soldiers over with his wings and creating powerful gusts of wind.Â
As the battle raged on, Malleus flew overhead, searching. It wasn't long until he found whatâor whoâhe was looking for. The king.
"You." His sharp gaze locked onto his quarry the moment he saw him, diving from the air and throwing him off the saddle and to the ground. It knocked the breath out of the king's lungs, rendering him helpless and immobile while he tried to catch his breath.
"TO THE KING!" The soldiers cried out. They charged forward, attempting to save their fallen monarch, only to be blown back by the wind of Malleus' wings.
"You will not have The Moors! Not now, not ever!" Malleus descended upon the king as he spoke, anger laced through every word. "Youâ!" He was cut off as the king thrust out his hand in an instinctual effort to stop his advance. The gauntlet adorning the king's hand forced Malleus back, burning his skin. Iron. He raised a hand to his collarbone, the flesh was red and raw where he had been touched. As he processed what had happened, the soldiers took advantage of his momentary shock and retreated, taking the king with them.
The battle itself had been short-lived, but the effects it was going to have were far from insignificant. While The Moors had not suffered any loss, the king's hatred had only been solidified. As he lay in bed, recovering, he steeped in his fury. This humiliation would not be overlooked. No matter what it took, the king would not rest until he had his revenge.
a/n: finally wrote another part lmao. I think its been like a month đ anyways the pacing might be kinda weird but hopefully after this it'll even out?? idk the time changes a lot in the beginning of the movie so...eh. also trying a new place for writing so the format might be a bit different.

Feathers and Freedom (malleus x reader), part 4
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5
Life at the castle was interesting, to say the least. In the two short weeks that youâd been there, you were introduced to a myriad of interesting characters, with the Queen standing at the forefront of them all. In truth, the first time youâd met her, youâd been a bit awestruck. She was every bit as beautiful as she was proclaimed to be. Tall and lithe with golden curls, she carried herself with grace and elegance; there was no doubt that she came from nobility. Not to mention she was extremely kindâa fact you took note of when you first started working for her and was further proven as time passed. Youâd been able to negotiate with her when you first took up the position and sheâd agreed to give you days off when you asked for them. Which was great!...Except adjusting to life in the palace had been rather hectic, so you hadnât had time to go back home yet.Â
Another, rather intriguing person youâd met was a young knight-in-training called Sebek Zigvolt. Your first encounter with him had beenâŚmemorable, to say the least. You were almost trampled by a rogue horse in one of the courtyards and had ended up with a broken arm; it was definitely a lasting first impression.
***
Carrying a basket full of fresh produce from the garden, you were on your way back to the kitchens, footsteps echoing across the cobbled stones of the courtyard. It was late in the morning and the head chef had asked you to get some more carrots for lunch. So, like the good little employee that you were, you did as she asked.
It was honestly rather satisfying, picking the carrots. Grabbing the base of the leafy stems and pulling them from the earth elicited an incredibly satisfying ripping sound. The only bad part about it had been the mosquitoes. Vile pests, why do they always have to be everywhere? Ruining peopleâs lives, sowing misery wherever they goâ
You were so lost in thought, that you failed to notice the rampaging horse charging towards you. By the time you realized that the hoofbeats were simultaneously drawing closer and not slowing down, it was already too little too late. You vaguely processed what sounded like a male voice yelling,
âGET OUT OF THE WAY!â
Too late. For a singular second you stared at the animal charging towards you and then wham! You didnât have any time to react before you got bulldozed by a one-thousand-pound-much-larger-than-you-beast-of-a-horse. It was safe to say you went flying, the carrots went flying, and any shred of dignity you might have had was gone with the wind.Â
That warning wouldâve been real nice if it had come a bit sooner.
Anyways, you were now lying on the ground, in shock, the wind knocked out of you, and completely immobilized for the time-being. What a wonderful day. It wasnât even noon yet.
A pale face entered your line of vision, their features blurred and distorted. It really just looked like a blob of whiteness and pale green. Their mouth was opening and closing, but your head felt like it was underwater, you couldnât make out what was being said to you. However, as the initial shock of the incident wore off, your senses came back. Slowly, at first, then everything came rushing all at once.
You drew a great shuddering gasp of breath, face twisting as you became aware of an excruciating pain in your arm. It must have taken the brunt of your fall. Or maybe the horse was simply all-powerful and had broken it when it collided with you. Okay, that was honestly pretty likely. Horses are strong, afterall.Â
âARE YOU ALRIGHT? WHY DIDNâT YOU MOVE OUT OF THE WAY WHEN I TOLD YOU TO?â
You winced, the loud shouting shaking you out of your temporary stupor. Why was he yelling so loud? It was making your head hurt even more. If thatâs even possibleâŚyou werenât sure it was, at this point. â...Can you be quiet?â you grumbled. Having someone yell at you was decidedly not going to make you feel any better or help the situation.
The boy helped you sit upâdoing his own fair share of grumbling as he did soâand you caught sight of the horse. It was now standing off to the side, munching on all the carrots that you had picked for lunch. Are you serious? What kind of evil horse is this?Â
âCan you stand?â He asked. âYour arm looks like it might have been broken, but your legs look fine.â
âDonât be a creep.â
âEXCUSE ME?â He sputtered. âI SIMPLY ASKED IF YOU COULD STAND.â
âWell donât be creepy about it next time.â You werenât being serious, even if your tone and facial expression indicated otherwise. He protested some more, helping you stand up, and began walking you to the infirmary.Â
The horse was left in the courtyard, eating carrots to its heartâs content.
***
That was basically how your meeting with Sebek had gone. Yet despite the rough introduction you had had with him, you came to realize that he actually wasnât that bad. Sure, he was loud and abrasive and made your ears hurt, but he was a good person underneath it all. He trained hard and did his best to live up to the best version of himselfâŚthough you noticed he had a bit of a tendency to look down on others. Everyone has their flaws, you supposed. At least he has good character. Thatâs better than what a lot of the people here can say. But with the seemingly wild palace life you had been thrown into, you found yourself missing your family and Malleus more and more each day. Oh well, at least you would have new stories to tell them when you returned. You had no doubt that your sister would be highly amused at the tale of the evil-bone-snapping horse. And MalleusâŚeven if he was upset that you got hurt, at the end of the day he would simply be happy to have you with him.
a/n: guys I was fighting literal demons (the wifi) to write this. anyways I apologize for any inaccuracies with the wounds; I've never been run over by a horse irl so I used my â¨imagination⨠to write it. no actual malleus this part :( but he should be in the next one? I lowkey don't have a SOLID plan but he should be there...I think.
Speaking of tho, I do also unfortunately have to lock in for an exam I have coming up so I'll probs be busy with that :( (watch me procrastinate and keep writing instead lol)

Feathers and Freedom (malleus x reader), part 3
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5
Another year passed. The last twelve months have been one of the most wonderful times in your life. It consisted of slipping out of your house to see your lover whilst also balancing the random odd jobs youâd do in the village. Most of the time it was working at the apothecary or tavern for a bit of extra coin to help support your family. It wasnât much, but it helped for day-to-day needs.
That being said, your sisterâs condition was worsening. A few extra coins made from serving beer no longer cut it. Of course, your grandfather had money saved, but that wouldnât last forever. Which was why youâd come to your decision.
Trekking across the rolling fields, you made your way to the familiar edge of The Moors. The tall stones stood as imposing as ever, and the wind rustled through the leafy canopy. A whispered invitation. You drew in a deep breath, getting ready to call out for Malleus, only to stop as a large gust of wind battered against you. Malleus descended from the sky, landing softly on the ground before you, wings tucked neatly against his back.
âMalleus, I need to talk to you,â you said solemnly.
He picked up on your heavy mood immediately, gaze narrowing in concern. âMC. Is there something troubling you, Child of Man?â
â...Iâm leaving.â You couldnât quite meet his gaze as you spoke. It had been a hard decision, but it was something you had to do.
He didnât answer right away, and you risked a glance at his face. Wrong move. He looked shocked, like he couldnât quite believe what youâd just said. â...What?â
You took a deep breath. âIâm leaving. Soon. Iâm going to work at the castle.â
âWhy?â Thunder rumbled in the distance. Was there a storm coming? You shook off the random thought. Doesnât matter.
âMy sisterâs condition has been worsening over the last couple of monthsâŚmy family needs more money. My grandpa has some saved up, butâŚitâs not enough. Itâll run out soon, so Iâm going to go work at the castle.â
He frowned as he listened to your words, obviously upset. He didnât want you to leave. âCanât you work in the village?âÂ
âI could, but the Queen is offering a more generous pay than can be found here. Apparently she wants someone who can make moreâŚhearty meals than the fancy cuisine they currently offer since thatâs what she ate in her childhood.â It was true. The Queenâs cook from when she was a child often made her more homey meals than what is typically found in court, and after being married to the King and moving here sheâd found she quite missed it. So, sheâd had someone go to the nearest villageâwhich just so happened to be yoursâto ask around for someone willing to take up the position. A bit of an odd request, but you supposed youâd do the same if you were in her shoes. Only eating fancy food all the time would probably drive you crazy after a while.
â...And you will not reconsider this decision?â Displeasure was etched across his face, though he didnât seem like he was going to argue with you.
â...No. Iâm sorry, Mal.â You sighed. âI would stay if I could, but my family needs my help. I canât just sit around and do nothing.â
His expression soured even more, eyes downcast. âI see. I suppose this is farewell, then?â Another crack of thunder split the night, closer than the last one. The wind was beginning to pick up as well, and raindrops began to fall. One by one.
âJust for a little bit! Iâll still come and visit, I promise.â You took his hand in yours, trying to provide some sort of comfort. âQueen Leila is known for being kind, Iâm sure she wouldnât mind if I missed a day every now and then.â
Malleus looked back at you, gauging the sincerity in your eyes. You held his gaze for several moments, communicating silently. â...I suppose it will be bearable. So long as you keep your promise and come back to me, my Child of Man.â He still wasnât happy about it. Not at all. But, your family needed you and you said youâd visit. He could make do with that. Maybe. Well, heâd have to find a way to copeâŚeventually. For now, he held you close, the storms of his inner turmoil bleeding outward and reflecting in the tumultuous sky. Yet, even as the thunder rolled and the wind whipped into a frenzy, you remained safe and untouched within his wings. You would come back to him. He was sure of it. Even if you had to leave for now, youâd be back soon. You wouldnât break his heart, right?
a/n: a bit shorter than the other two parts but oh well. might be ooc again, creative writing is lowkey hard lol. I got mer-form jade tho so im happy about that :D now I have to save back up :(
Feathers and Freedom (malleus x reader), part 2
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5
The two of you met many times after your first encounter, gradually growing closer. You visited The Moors frequently He shared with you details from his past; he had no mother or father, and spent much of his time in solitude or resolving conflicts within The Moors. You, in turn, opened up to him about your own life. You lived with your sister and grandfather a little ways away from the village. Your little sister was ill, and so you had tried stealing one of the crystals from the Pool of Jewelsâas youâd later learned it was calledâto show her one of the small bits of wonder in the outside world that she couldnât see for herself. He had listened intently to everything youâd said, only occasionally interrupting to ask questions, and contemplating what he learned. Humans and faeries seemed to share more similarities than either of you had thought.
As time passed, the bond between you and Malleus deepened. Friendship slowly blossomed into something more, and it was on your sixteenth birthday that those feelings became realized.
***
âMalleus!â You called for him, standing at the edge of The Moors. It was early in the evening, the sun still on its downward trek towards the horizon and bathing the world in a golden glow. It wasnât long until you heard the sound of wings flapping and your friend appeared in front of you, landing gracefully. Youâd both grown quite a bit since the first time you met, no longer small children. You were older now, more mature as you began to enter adulthood. Malleus himself had grown considerably in height, and had become even more elegant and graceful.
âYou called, Child of Man?â He gazed at you softly as he spoke, taking in your appearance. You looked beautiful in the light of the setting sun.
âItâs my birthday,â you replied, grinning widely.
He tilted his head and hummed thoughtfully. âSo it is.â The first half of your birthday youâd always spend with your family, and then youâd go and see him in the evening and early night. It was a tradition established over the years. About a week ago, though, he had told you that he had a gift to give you on your birthday, but wouldnât tell you what it was no matter how many times you asked.Â
âWell? Didnât you say you had something important to give me?â Youâd been kept in suspense all week and it was killing you.
âEager, arenât you? Very well, I suppose I wonât keep you waiting any longer. Close your eyes, Child of Man,â He commanded gently, waiting for you to comply.
You hesitated for a moment before doing as he asked. âAre you going to put a spider in my hair?â You questioned teasingly.
âDonât be ridiculous,â he said, dismissing the idea. The grass rustled and you could feel him as he drew closer, his presence filling the space between the two of you.Â
âNo? Then maybe aââ you were cut off before you could say anything else, something soft pressing against your lips. Was heâŚkissing you? You were frozen in shock, the sensation of his lips on yours was warm and sweet and so utterly unexpected, and before you knew it, he had pulled away again.Â
You opened your eyes and stood there in silence, completely flustered. HeâŚkissed meâŚyour mind was still trying to wrap around that fact, only barely registering the way Malleus was looking at you. With that soft, stupidly infuriating look of adoration on his face. Youâd seen it before and simply brushed it off, not wanting to give yourself false hope. But there it was again. â...You kissed me.â
He chuckled, a deep reverberating sound. âSo I did.â He tilted his head as he looked down at you. âIt was true loveâs kiss.âÂ
Your face felt like it was on fire.
âAre you displeased by it?â A hint of concern crept into his tone and he frowned. Malleus had thought youâd returned his affections, given the way you acted around him. Had he made a mistake? What if you didnât like him that way? Perhaps he had overestimatedâ
âNo! No, IâŚIâm not displeased. Iâm just surprisedâŚthatâs all.â You answered sheepishly. âIâmâŚreally happy with it, truly.â Finally pulling yourself together, you looked at him earnestly.Â
His expression softened as you spoke, his worries assuaged. âI see. Iâm glad to have made you happy, my Child of Man.â
âYeahâŚSo, you love me huh?â Already a shit-eating grin was forming on your face. Now that you were over the initial embarrassment you couldnât help but try to tease him.
âI do,â he replied simply. âMost ardently.â Okay, that was it. Did he not see you were trying to tease him? Now heâs gonna make you feel all sappy and mushy. No coping for you. The worst part was that he still had that stupid look of adoration written all over his face. How were you supposed to âmake fun ofâ him now? You couldnât. There was no way. It would be like kicking a puppy, or kitten. A giant, much-too-tall, winged kitten.
â...I love you too.â The words were so quiet they were barely audible over the evening breeze, though you had no doubt that Malleus had heard you. You didnât wait for a response and instead pushed past him to the path that led into The Moors. It was hidden, but fairly well-traveled after years of your adventures with Malleus; the grass was shorter and the ground was clear of bracken that often littered the forest floor, making it easier for you to traverse.Â
He didnât follow immediately, instead remaining where he was, and you fought the urge to look back. Donât look, donât look, donâtâcut off by a large gust of wind, something clipped you in the back of the head. Not enough to hurt, mind you, but still. You caught sight of Malleusâ cheeky smile as he flew ahead of you, the offending wing that had hit you helping to spur him onward.
Oh, you were gonna get him for that. A wicked glint sparked in your eye as you took off after him. âMalleus! Get back here!â
So, you spent the rest of your night chasing after the fae boy, determined to exact your revenge upon him. And honestly, you wouldnât have it any other way.
