Most people could tell you liked Malleus at a glance. All expect Silver Vanrouge. The way you looked at Malleus was the same way Silver looked at you. You were the person that he admired from afar. Blissfully unaware of his own feelings for you.
In Lilia’s case it was a painful thing to watch. Two of the most important people in his life fawning for completely different people. He didn’t want to see either of you get hurt. Romance hasn’t slipped into Malleus’s mind and you were all goo goo eyed for the wrong boy.
It got to the point where Lilia couldn’t just watch anymore. He had to speak up in one way or another. “Y/N has feelings for Malleus.”
Silver’s eyes dilated slightly and a little pang graced his chest. Surely it was because he was simply just shocked, right?
He looked up at his father, a warm smile on his face. “I could offer my help to them.”
Lilia gaped, not expecting that kind of reaction. “What??”
“Y/N always helps during classes. They take notes for me and always assists me during my sleepy spells. I should return the favor.”
All Lilia could do was sigh. Silver had made up his mind. Get Y/N and Malleus together was a go!
When Silver came up to you and said he was gonna help you with your crush on Malleus, you were shocked to say the least. You were so curious to find out why he would do such a thing. But in the moment you just nodded and played along. After all who could ever possibly have a chance with the future king of briar valley?
Malleus was currently on his gargoyle sight seeing for his club and Silver thought it would be a great idea for you to accompany him. That was the plan at least, because Malleus was no where to be found.
Both of you searched throughout the campus, looking for all of Malleus’s favorite gargoyles in hopes to find him. And in the midst of your search it began to rain harshly.
“Neither of us have umbrellas, we should wait this out at Ramshackle,” you suggested.
When you arrived at your dorm your furry companion was curious to see Silver there with you. You kneeled to ruffle his head, “don’t worry he’s not here to replace you.”
Silver had sat on the couch, quietly watching the rain trickle on the windowsill. It was silent but it wasn’t an awkward silence. Though, an idea struck you.
“Hey umm Silver, I have some clay leftover from a project, care to make some mini gargoyles for Malleus?”
He looked back at you with gentle eyes, and nodded. You both got comfortable on the couch, getting all the materials ready on a coffee table. You hummed, excitedly as you molded the clay.
“Is this a hobby of yours?” Silver inquired.
“Mhm, I used to do this back at home with friends of mine! It’s nice to have a little piece of home here.”
Silver noticed that your words were laced with a bit of sadness. “I-”
“Silver it’s okay! I’m still happy. Now that I’m here I get to do this with you,” you smiled, reassuringly.
Silver’s faced flushed and he felt a new kind of warmth. One he hadn’t noticed he could feel around you.
Normally you and Malleus would meet up late at night and lay in the grass field near ramshackle and just talk for hours on end. Today was one of the days Malleus told you he would be there but it seems like he got caught up with housewarden duties.
Silver happened to be sleeping nearby and when he woke up he caught the sight of you and grew curious. You seemed to be lost in thought. “Something the matter?”
You flinched, gazing up at him. “No- I’m okay, promise.”
“May I join you?” Silver asked.
“Always,” you grinned, patting the spot next to you.
Silver laid down right beside you. It was one of the few times you got to see him up close. His eyes were stunning and they seemed to match the light of the stars. His hair seemed like silk. He looked just like a prince.
Your face flushed at all the new details you seemed to notice.
“Is there something on my face?” He questioned. You shook your head violently, embarrassed beyond measure.
Silver seemed content at your answer and stared at the stars. In that moment it was just the two of you, hearts and breath syncing, melding into one.
“Father tells me about all the stars that are seen on rare occasions. He always says it’s important to gaze at them with those who are important to you.”
“So have you and Lilia gone stargazing together?”
Silver smiled fondly, “Every night back at Briar Valley.”
“That’s wonderful.” You began to search through the stars to find constellations to show Silver but the skies were vastly different from your own back home. “Back home the stars made up all different kinds of constellations. They’re all so beautiful! I wish I could’ve shown you.”
Silver glanced at you intensely. “I can show you ours.”
You beamed, “I’d like that.”
“Is Malleus here? Silver told me Malleus wanted to have dinner with me.”
The Diasomina student’s expression shifted into one of apology. “Oh yes I heard of that…unfortunately Malleus is distracting Vice Housewarden Lilia so he’ll stay out of the kitchen.”
You giggled, knowing exactly what those words meant. “That’s probably for the best.”
“You’re still more than welcome to come in. Silver’s meal prepping in the kitchen,” the student replied.
Once you arrived to the kitchen you were met with a concentrated Silver. He was busily chopping away at some veggies. You cleared your throat, “may I help?”
Silver finally looked up, smile warm once he met your eyes. “Always.”
For the next few minutes chatter between the two of you filled the room. But soon enough you noticed Silver was blowing at some strands of hair blocking his view.
You chuckled, admiring the view. “Let me help you with that.”
You quickly sat him down and began to braid part of his hair. It was soft and beautiful. Something you could get lost in forever.
Once you had finished, you admired your work. “Not to toot my own horn but I think it turned out great!”
Silver quietly looked at himself in awe. He’d never tell you but from that moment on he would style his hair like that for training or other tasks.
Days went on and Silver continued to do everything within his power to make things work with you and Malleus. Unfortunately, nothing ever seemed to turn out the way he wanted it to.
Silver and you began to stick like glue. You were always at his horse riding competitions. You’d show up during his training. You guys would spend quiet days on grass fields enjoying each other’s company. You would bask in his warmth, singing lullabies as he napped.
Slowly this was no longer about Malleus. The only one you wanted was Silver. He brought you warmth and happiness. He understood you. He felt like home.
Soon you’d realize he wanted you too.
A/N: first time writing Silver kinda nervous (ᵕ—ᴗ—) I hope he wasn’t too out of character or I got his form of speech a little bit correct lol. I’ve been writing this oneshot for days now just trying to make it something I’m satisfied with but ummm ig my writing will progress with practice (plus I was itching to get this finished) hope you guys enjoyed it even a little bit :,) much love <3
