like i'm definitely #guilty of passing around a potential man meme or two and i'm on r/lobotomykaisen maybe a little too much for my own good but there are these really beautiful and melodically written moments in jjk that i think are hard to talk about because in order to really engage with the text you have to take it seriously and on good faith. it's widely acknowledged that perfect preparation and hidden inventory/premature death are two of the most literary(?) jjk arcs so i see the most genuine and sincere takes on them but sometimes i wish that same grace was extended to, you know. other things. like,,, yuuta and rika: what it means to be "worthy" of living, what it means to carry a child's burden into adulthood. namami's choice to pass on the torch to itadori specifically; nanami's response to the system vs gojo's vs geto's. the zenin clan's abuse of toji fushiguro as the catalyst for the whole story; the brutal murder of a schoolgirl as the cataylst for the whole story. why megumi is #likethat. yuki's culpability in geto's mental breakdown. choso's defiance of his nature as half-curse. etcetera

trigun stampede references the source material in some really beautiful ways but i think my personal favorite is turning the fifth moon brotherrape into nai using vash to get his sisters pregnant instead like okay. awesome

and then of course star/gaze turned knives's resurrection-by-violent-c-section into the intensely boring tank setup and swapped out his eldtrich horror Arc for whatever metalnai was. because it sucks. but on the bright side legato died horribly even if they fucked up everything by making sure knives killed him instead of vash. sigh

one of the difficult things about jjk that also makes it really beautiful is that the writing is occasionally fluid and melodic in ways that make it hard to interpret. kill me if you want. there's meaning in that. / don't you have a human heart? she took it with her. / are you the strongest because you're satoru gojo, or are you satoru gojo because you're the strongest? <- and of course these will be endlessly memed on and argued about which is the way of things but they were beautiful when i read them. and so to me they're forever free of the meme associations. thank fucking god
