((Hello! Thank you for requesting for a Vday gift! Feel free to do with this as you like! Submitting a bit early to hopefully give you plenty of time to decide what to do with it 8) Hope you enjoy!))
Haru was pretty excited because Kurapika was coming over. Sometimes, it was just nice to take a relaxing evening and enjoy the pleasant company instead of going out. With how busy Kurapika normally was, she felt inclined to spend the day ensuring that he’ll take a break and relax.
Valentine’s day was supposed to be a day where you show people your appreciation for them, and to shower your lover with love, was it not? Different regions celebrated in slightly different ways, and Haru came from a place where the day was where normally girls gave gifts to their friends, family, lovers, etc as a show of affection/appreciation. As such, Haru always made it a point to prepare a lot of chocolate gifts for people as a show of gratitude.
She’d even set aside a box of handmade chocolates she prepared for Kurapika to take back to the Nostrade mansion. To her, it only made sense to be grateful to the people who worked alongside Kurapika. They were the ones who were with him often, checking on his condition when she couldn’t be around to check on him.
At the sound of someone at the door, she quickly walks over to open the door to greet her boyfriend with a hug. “Kurapika~ I missed you.” She ushers him inside and showers him with kisses the moment the door closes behind them. “Come inside. Would you like to eat something first? A bath? You could also take a nap if you’re tired. Haru knows how to give good massages if you’d like to relax.”
This day was basically for him to get pampered, and Haru wasn’t going to have it any other way. He had to know just how stubborn she was, so she was going to make sure he didn’t leave her apartment without feeling relaxed and pampered.
In a work environment where the slightest mistake could easily land someone's head (Kurapika's, usually) on the floor, Kurapika was a man who didn't take breaks, didn't allow himself to relax, or let his mind wander, at least not usually. He couldn't afford for anything to go wrong, not for his own safety, really, but because he would lose control of the entire situation… and, using the Nostrade family as a means to get more Scarlet Eyes back… losing control was not something he could afford.
That's why, when Kurapika casually mentioned during lunch in the bodyguards' small kitchen that Haru wanted him to come to her apartment for Valentine's Day, the other three sprang into action to ensure Kurapika would have the entire day off. After all, they knew very well how much he needed a break and a change of scenery, and they knew Haru was the right person to give it to him.
Now the question was, what could he bring her? Because it seemed inappropriate to arrive empty-handed, and since Kurapika's hometown didn't usually celebrate Valentine's Day, he was truly lost. It was then that he remembered Basho once mentioning that where he came from, girls usually gave chocolates to their loved ones, and in the case of a romantic interest, he should reciprocate in March. Even so, he felt bad about arriving empty-handed.
When Haru opened the door and greeted him with a hug, he couldn't help but smile and chuckle softly. Her enthusiasm was always welcome and was like a refreshing bucket of water after days, weeks, wandering aimlessly in the desert. An arm wrapped tightly around her waist, swaying gently, and a small, almost innocent giggle (something incredibly rare for him) escaped his lips as she showered him with kisses. He was definitely going to thank his workcolleagues later for giving him the day off.
"I missed you too, Haru… I've been too busy with work, I'm sorry" he whispered softly before gently releasing her. "Those are my options?" he remarked, a soft giggle dancing behind his lips. "It all sounds so tempting, honestly…" Kurapika knew he couldn't refuse; Haru was stubborn enough not to let him leave without making him feel better. "Why don't we start by eating something and then see what we do?" Gently, Kurapika kissed Haru's cheek once, twice, three times, moving softly toward her lips with each kiss, until he finished with a soft kiss on her lips.
"By the way, I brought you this, I hope you like it" Slightly nervous, Kurapika handed her a paper bag he had with him: inside was a small pot filled with colorful Petunia flowers.
