*You ask them if they knew that you used to be thought of as a boy.
“U-uhm, of course I do, Kris, but what does that have to do with…?”
*You tell them about how long it took for people to really get it. That you were not a boy. That you weren’t a girl either.
*You tell them about how frustrated you got with being called “he” and “him” all the time, even after asking people not to.
*You tell them how once, you borrowed one of Noelle’s dresses, and some of Dess’s makeup. You didn’t know what you were doing, really. Just knew that maybe if you were “more feminine” it would help.
*The dress was fine; not quite your style, but fine. You hated the makeup and how it felt on your face. But after a week of wearing it at school people started to get it. Started calling you “they” and “them.” After you stopped dressing the same, they suddenly understood how a person could be gender-neutral.
*After they thought you wanted to be a girl.
*You ask if this reminds them of anyone.
“Uhm. Well. I’m sorry you dealt with that, Kris… Really, that goes back to what I said, though, right? You felt pressured into being a girl, and…”
*You tell them how relieved everyone looked once Dess... left. And you gave back the dresses and makeup.
*How they went back to “he” and “him” until, you suspect, Noelle made a stink about it. That, or it was because you kept putting snakes in people’s lockers.
*You tell them that it’s familiar to you, at least. To the words that Asriel said, once, early on:
You know you don’t have to change your… you know you can just be a feminine boy, right? Like me.
“I. I mean. It’s not the same, right? I… I wear dresses and makeup. And everyone calls me a boy still…”
