Just maybe after I get some tips. If I do.” For the most part, he was joking, though some actual income would be nice to help out his family. Things had been tight for a long time.

“Well when I finally get to order mine, I’ll put your order in too. What are you having?” Allison questioned with a smile, eyes momentarily flicking back to the overworked barmaid. “Busiest night of the week. But it’s good to meet you, Simon — I’m Allison.”

Simon looked surprised, but pleasantly so. “Oh, um, thanks! Uh… I’ll have what she’s having,” he joked, pointing at some random, menacing-looking man sitting by the bar, who was thankfully looking in the other direction. “I have no idea. Anything that’ll stop my heart beating out of my body would be nice, though.”

“Sinancy. Definitely.” Nancy had been preparing herself for an extremely boring and stressful night, but as always, her best friend had come to her rescue. After losing Barb on the move to Alexandria, they’d had no time to themselves, so she was happy that they had chance to unwind now, like the old days. “Oh, I don’t know about that. Richie’s getting far more stubborn now he’s growing up. You might have to use some of those sci-fi mind tricks on him to get him down. But thank you, my hero.”

“You’re right, Sinancy sounds way classier, I should’ve gone with my gut. Thank god for you!” Simon waved off her comments, acting as if he had it all under control. “There’s no way a sassy tween attitude is any match for my incredibly boring catalogue of topics. I’ll talk his ear off and he’ll be out in no time, don’t you worry.”
