a little jancy for my first post 🫶
when the red string of fate has you tied down but bae is an emotionally confused sadboy who isn’t going to college with you after this whole apocalypse thing is over
(poor baby)
Sorry bit random but what's your thoughts about the current charlie heaton and natalia dyer breakup rumors i don't believe them but at the same time I feel uncomfortable about it and that might be parasocial of me but yeah I hate this whole situation it's stressful tbh but uh yeah just wanted to hear your thoughts on this Sorry about this article of a question lol
My thoughts are and always have been:
I’m thankful to both of them for the work they’ve done on bringing these characters to life.
I hope that they are both happy and healthy in all they do and hope they both have great successes.
I hope they continue to speak positively about each other’s character as well as their own, despite whatever may happen in their personal lives.
Their relationship does not affect my enjoyment of Jonathan and Nancy’s relationship and overall dynamic. And their rumored break up has not and will not impact me now that the show is over.
Joyce almost going to talk to jonathan when they found Will's body wrecked me.

What if..
It will never cease to be funny that despite outside forces (the Duffers et al.) deciding that Jonathan and Nancy should break up to find themselves, the narrative (and inherent character dynamic between the two) didn't allow for that separation to hold any meaning. It's almost as if the two characters were literally developed to be together and that having their plots untethered undoes each of them individually.
The true "going against that natural order of things" if you ask me.
Happy "Don't touch her!" Tuesday!
You've told me a lot of shockers today, but that, that is the first lie

Concept: Jonathan and Nancy tenderly washing the goo out of each other’s hair post-final battle in the wheeler’s master bathroom.
Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers Stranger Things (2016-205)
FUTURE | jancy epilogue energy
still so in love with their whole futures ahead of them
What are your thoughts on the dynamics between the characters and their families (emphasis on Jancy of course!) in the immediate aftermath of season 5 (pre-epilogue) as they grieve and heal and move forward—either how it probably was considering canon, or how it should have been, haha.
This one has been sitting in my inbox FOREVER and I'm so sorry. I tried to start an answer a few times, but never managed to organize my thoughts. In short, how do I think it was in canon? I think immediately after the fight with Vecna/getting released by the military, Nancy's going to be incredibly focused on taking care of Mike and Holly given that their parents are in the hospital. Further, there will be a lot of time spent at Karen's/Ted's bedsides. Particularly at Karen's, not because everyone likes her way better than Ted, but because there's a LOT they need to talk about regarding everything that's happened since 1983. My headcanon which I think would honestly be truly canon as well, is that Jonathan is going to be fully embroiled in helping Nancy and living at the Wheeler house pretty much until the whole NYU thing happens. There's no way Nancy can handle all of that alone and while Mike is nearing adulthood, he's still immature and distraught over losing El. Further, the Wheeler kids are not used to domestic independence. Have they done a lot of badass shit? Absolutely. Do they know how to do laundry or cook more than a frozen pizza or deal with insurance and broken appliances? Absolutely fucking not. And broken up or not, Jonathan wouldn't just fuck off to the cabin and be like "good luck with that". Moreover, the cabin. Are he and/or Will really going to sleep on the couch in a one-bedroom cabin with their mom and her boyfriend (even if that boyfriend is Hop)? Be so fr. As much as I wish it were different, I think the Byers are going to splinter off a bit at that point. Joyce supporting and consoling Hopper at the cabin, and Will and Jonathan being the Emotional Support Byers to their respective Wheeler. I would HOPE they'd make it a point to still spend some time with Joyce (maybe a weekly dinner at the Wheeler's for all of them??) but in canon? Who fucking knows lol. Everyone else? Less my expertise, but I would assume all of this would bring everyone even closer. I like to think they'd all spend a lot of time together and that the Wheeler house would continue to be the central hangout for everyone, even the older teens. A place where, if anyone is having a hard time or doesn't want to be alone at home (i.e. Steve and Max, but others may apply), they crash at the Wheeler's. Even after Karen and Ted get home. Karen knows why - Ted can probably just assume that they all went through so much shit with the military occupation and what not that they're all struggling with trauma. Ted is an idiot, but I don't think he's totally devoid of empathy (or, I guess, that's what I like to believe if we're trying to consider these characters as actual multi-faceted people). I do think it's a really interesting time period and still kind of a limbo of sorts until at least the summer of '88. Per my fic(s), Jancy were basically carrying on business (and pleasure) as usual during that time without labeling anything or addressing it. To the point that most people have zero idea they're broken up as they did not call everyone into the room to announce it. No one would believe them anyways.
Pretty wild how the show treats the teens and how it treats the kids. They can’t help but infantilize the kids, even when they’re not kids anymore.
Nancy/Jonathan/Steve are allowed to have flaws.
Nancy’s a brat in the first two episodes (Natalia’s delivery of “because Mikes friend gets lost in the woods” is so good). Jonathan is a creep. Steve is a douchebag. They fight each other, fight with each other, fuck each other, drink and smoke and drive cars.
The kids are the same age in season five as the teens were in season one and yet they’re allowed none of it. Even Dustin’s flaw is that he’s grieving TOO much. Which, lol. Nancy’s not a brat because she’s just TOO good, she’s a brat because she’s a spoiled 15-16 year old girl.
They really were like “nope these kids aren’t fucking.” Even though they should be fucking! They’re juniors in high school!
I think the show got a lot of buzz for having a bunch of adorable, talented child actors with good chemistry play their own ages in the first season, and the creators and/or Netflix never learned to gracefully accept that this couldn’t last forever on any kind of multi-season show, let alone one that was filmed over roughly a decade. Season 5 is so much more egregious, though, even though I’m pretty sure all the actors were adults when it was shot.
