“Mona?” Rose questioned immediately, wrapping both arms around his neck as they swayed. She only knew one, but the correlation between her and Jace was lost on Rose. “As in.. 'Hanna’s crazy bitch' Mona?!” Rose pressed her lips together to stop from laughing, realising what she’d just said. “Oh man, please don’t tell Han I just said that. I’m sorry, what the fuck? You’re dating her? You? Jace Lightwood? Dating?” Rose was laughing now, a mix of bewilderment and alcohol overtaking any social etiquette. Mona was going to kill her? “What the fuck is going on?” She asked the ceiling, stumbling backward.

“Shut up,” Jace bit back, quickly attempting to save face. He knew Rose wouldn’t be able to keep a secret at his own expense, and the last thing he wanted was for everyone to assume he and Mona were an item. “We’re not dating. Not at all. She’s just obsessed with me, obviously. I saved her in the Capitol, and now she follows me around. I mean, I can’t say I blame her. But it’s not a good look for me.” He raised a hand in mock defence, laughing as Rose staggered back. “She’s dangerously into me. If she sees you with your hands on me she’ll end you, I’m not kidding.” It was an exaggeration of the truth, but a part of Jace did wonder what happened if he seriously pissed Mona off. “You are in no position to judge, Hathaway.”

“Mhm, yes, yes I am,” she nodded, swaying on her feet. “But I don’t have a charge anymore, Alec wouldn’t be caught dead in this place, and you’re not gonna say anything, or he’ll find out you were here too. So shut up, and come dance with me!”

Jace’s lip pouted, impressed by her argument, knowing he had nothing to say in his defence. Having been caught drinking in the Alibi by Alec several times now, he’d come here instead, wanting to get drunk without being berated. “Alright, fine. But if Mona asks, I was never here. I don’t want my head to end up on a spike.” It wasn’t something he’d have admitted sober, but the beer was getting to his head. He stood, wrapping an arm around Rose’s waist, slowly moving along to the music. “Actually, she’d probably kill you first."

“You’re drunk,” Jace replied, eyebrow raised in amusement. “You wanna’ hope Alec doesn’t catch you, this isn’t very professional.”
