I’m not one of the merperson Waterboy people but like, I do like the different kinds of takes people have ESPECIALLY the different kinds of sea creatures they use for these Hcs (despite being scared of the ocean).

SO

Honestly I think Waterboy would find HUGE comfort with Sonar in this kind of world. He’s the only other person with animal like features so he understands somewhat.

Albeit…Sonar is a bit of a dumbass and asks some weird questions.

Now Waterboy has asked Sonar numerous questions because he finds bats to be awesome. He likes bats quite a bit. However he’s tried to be respectful.

That respect is…less so with Sonar. He asks some wild questions.

“Hey can you get pregnant like a seahorse?”

“Hey do you have a poisonous/venomous gland in you? That way if someone ate you, they’d die just like puffer fish?”

“Do you go crazy if you smell blood? Do you smell blood in the water?”

“Can you jump out of the water like a whale?”

“Can you speak whale? Or dolphin?”

“Can you go into sea anemones like clownfish or do they fuck you up?”

“Why are clownfish called clownfish anyways?”

And these are just some of the examples of Sonar’s questions.

And yeah, Sonar tries to touch the gills. He gets smacked.

Herm is sleeper Scottish looool jk

Herm having that sweet stuttery but friendly sounding voice with just a “typical American” accent and then something shifts and he speaks in the THICKEST and most BARELY UNDERSTANDABLE Scottish accent you can imagine. Like Punch Up is maybe the closest person to understanding but he is stumped too. He has to remind some of the Z team that yeah the Irish and Scottish may be Gaelic brothers in arms but they aren’t the same.

Everyone is like 0-0

Z-Team: But don't you hate yourself.

That guy deserves a lot of things to be honest.

But yeah uh….

I did have a fun lil thought (not really a headcanon but a fun little crash out thought) that later down the line he might learn to control bodies of water that aren’t from him. And how he learns that?

It’s through a crash out.

And here’s some added context, this headcanon came to me from listening to “Take Down” from KPOP Demon Hunters. Specifically the lines

“it’s a take down Ima take you out and you’ll break down like “what?!”

It’s a take down Ima take you out and it ain’t gonna stop”

So he learns this power completely by accident. He’s watching his friends get their asses beat (to a scary degree) by some big powerful demon villain (ignore me having a demon there) that can summon chains and it hurts and saps people of energy.

And as he watches his friends get taken out one by one he gets angrier and angrier cause he’s too weak. He can’t STOP them. He can’t help his friends. He’s hurt and injured and Malevola can’t even get up and He’s so fucking USELESS and this STUPID FUCKING DEMON-

He’s the only one left still standing . He shakily stands and gets to work.

He’s dodging chains and weaving through waves of power and attacks and he’s pissed. Robert is in his ear demanding he RETREAT but he’s PISSED. These are his FRIENDS. The only friends he’s EVER had. So he’s gonna do his damn best to take this bitch down.

As they fight Herm gets injured a few times but he’s not standing down. This is HIS city, his HOME, and these are HIS friends. The demon just insults and says how they’re going to ruin everything and they’re going for their precious dispatcher next before they feel rumbling below their feet.

Waterboy’s face goes eerily calm, goggles glinting and it obscuring his eyes and a shadow is over his face. His expression is unreadable as the rumbling gets stronger and stronger. And then it happens.

A fucking geyser of water erupts from behind him.

And another…

He’s using water from hydrants, faucets, from under the GROUND etc and it’s all coming up behind him to form one massive hand. He then lifts his hand up, closes it into one massive fist and DECKS the demon so hard they go flying team rocket style. But oh no. Hermy’s not done with them yet.

And Robert is watching from cameras, VERY concerned as Herm like a demon possessed stalks his way over to where the demon is. The demon tries to fly off but Herm’s water hand grabs the demon and pulls them back down, holding them tightly. And Herm gets closer and closer to the Demon and now the demon can see Herm’s eyes are this empty blank glare of sorts with no light in his eyes. Just ANGER. He gets really close to the demon’s face and says

“Stay the fuck out of my city”

before slamming the demon down on the ground HARD in time for people to send them back. The wings are definitely broken a little.

And uh..

The team has been watching for the past five minutes as they’ve woken up and they’re like 0-0

Herm then blinks, confused before his eyes roll back and he faints and the water just splashes around everyone, as if his final act of consciousness is to protect his friends from the sheer weight, force and flooding of a fuck ton of water.

Waterboy wakes up a few days later with no memory of this whole thing. He just remembers everyone was hurt and he was mad but that was it. And when he’s told what happened he’s MORTIFIED. He asks if anyone got hurt and Robert tells him just the demon.

And he asks what happened and Herm says he doesn’t know. He didn’t know he could do that.

He has no reason to believe that anyone else on the team would react badly to his identity and Flambae is the only one prior to the moment he'd expressed genuine worry about revealing his secret too.
