in stories selkies can hear the song of the sea and it can drive them insane among other things.

the idea of robert wandering the beach, trying to calm his mind and running into chad when he's on shore without his own coat.

idk just the idea of selkie chad recognizing that robert is also a selkie that doesnt have his coat and has no idea that he's a selkie on top of that.

Robbie absolutely would. He hides that fact that Robert is a Selkie from him, has never shown him his coat, and doesn't acknowledge Robert's insane yearning for the ocean.

Robbie tries very hard to suppress that side of Robert. When Chad first sees Robert, he immediately clocks that something is off with this human, but he can't pinpoint what. It makes him very interested in learning more about him, and he might've gotten a bit too close...

Robert CLOCKS it immediately but lets it play out as long as the house doesn't actually get set on fire. Chad is mildly concerned that the kids are acting SO weird but Robert seems fine with it???

Between his money, hero position, and being the person who got Flambae out of jail, it's a major power imbalance weirdly in favor of the normie, except Robert doesn't realize he comes off as threatening/manipulative.

He's just happy his relationship is developing well, not realizing Flambae is attracted but is also terrified of the consequences of leaving him.

Like a full role reversal.

I wouldn't necessarily call it mafia AU but what Robert is doing to Flambae is definitely one-sided and unhealthy 😔

Maybe this time they'll actually have a mature conversation about it and Robert makes it clear that his money comes with no strings attached—he just wants to help Flambae and see him happy. After that, Chad will be more okay with it and start to ease up with Robert.

Flambae knows how Selkie are born, even if he doesn't remember his own death, but he wasn't prepared to see Robert's slack, face frozen in terror, body in the aftermath. He drags the body to shore, ripping off his coat and starting cpr. Ribs break. The body goes cold. Flambae can't-

Flambae carries Robert's body beneath the waves, watching it float outto sea. He prays to the sea, begging for forgiveness, to please return Robert to him.

Flambae was swims to shore, hiding his coat and curling up in Robert's cold bed. The next new moon will tell whether Robert is allowed to be reborn.
