Mungrove snippet prompt: First fight Making up after first fight
I finally got time to write one of these. I wanted to keep what they were fighting about vague and just focus on the make up so I hope you like some softness.
Billy heard the pained stuttering of Eddie's van long before it crested the hill of the quarry. He would have had plenty of time to get in his car and speed off but for some reason found himself rooted to the hood. Resolutely staring ahead, Billy continued to ignore his boyfriend as Eddie parked up.
If he could even call him that anymore.
Eddie climbed from his van and, in his usual unsubtle way, shuffled towards him. "Hey," he said quietly, hands on his pockets and an adorably shy smile on his face. "What's a guy like you doing in a place like this?"
Billy snorted despite himself, flicking his spent cigarette into the night as he tried to figure out how to approach this. Why Eddie didn't seem angry at him. "Just trying to get over the fact that I fucked up the one good thing in my life." He leant back on his hands, finally looking at Eddie, swallowing down the love threatening to spill from his throat when their eyes locked.
"That your way of saying sorry?" Eddie asked, but he sounded like he was trying to supress a laugh. Like he didn't hate Billy's guts. "And you call me dramatic."
"I am sorry," Billy said, flinching back without meaning to when Eddie sat next to him.
"Hey, what's this baby?" Eddie held his hands up, keeping a respectful distance between them. "I move to fast?"
"No I..." Billy looked back out over the quarry. "Why are you here?"
"Because my boyfriend's sulking by himself and I wanted to keep him company."
"Your..." Billy blinked rapidly as tears welled and blurred his vision. "I'm still your boyfriend?" He hated how squeaky his voice was coming out but couldn't help it, especially when Eddie shuffled closer and placed his hand over where Billy's was resting.
"Yeah, of course. Did you... Billy, did you think I'd break up with you over that?"
"I..." Billy shrugged, wiping his tears away with his shoulder. "I... I was an asshole. I called you..."
"Dude, it was a fight. Yeah you said some shitty things but I wasn't exactly innocent in it either." There were gentle fingers at his chin, turning him until they were eye to eye. "Baby, you think one stupid fight would end this? You think it would make me stop loving you?"
Billy felt his breath catch in his throat. They'd never said the L word to each other before. "You... Love me? Still?"
Eddie laughed, the warmth of his breath tickling over Billy's lips. "I'll love you for as long as you let me, sweetness. I'll love you on your best days, and your worst."
"I'm sorry I called you an idiot," Billy sobbed, a tear tracking down his cheek when Eddie closed the last of the distance and kissed him. "I love you so much. I promise I'll be better... I'll try to do better."
Eddie didn't reply, but the way he tugged Billy closer , the way he leant into him without hesitation told Billy everything he needed to know.
Eddie wasn't running and neither would Billy.
This time, the one he loved would stay.
